Quality boutique hotel. Modern decor in a classic building. Owners / staff were very friendly. Excellent cooked english breakfast made to order. Honesty bar if you get back late and fancy a night cap. A short walk (10mins) back from centre of town after a night out, some of which is uphill, so may be better to get a taxi... More

Stayed here for second time in April. Room was lovely although on the small side and as before Zoe was friendly and helpful, even lending us maps and advising us where to go in the area. Breakfast was amazing too.. I have even come home and made the granola from the recipe on the site! Overall this is worth looking... More

We returned to The Elmfield for a family weekend break following on the success of our last visit. The warm greeting that we received from the owners Zoe and Matt was a perfect start to a relaxing and fun weekend. Having been before, my young boys asked straight away to go to the games/play room on the ground floor which... More

We have just returned from a pleasant two night stay at The Elmfield. This was our first visit to Ilfracombe and we enjoyed our time there. The room, although fairly small, was comfortable. There was a good shower in the bathroom and the towels were larger than in many other establishments we have stayed in. Zoe, the owner was welcoming... More

We recently stayed for two nights at The Elmfield and found the whole experience to be very restful including a very friendly atmosphere. Both Matthew and Zoe were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The room was very comfortable and we both slept well, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We have already recommended the hotel to friends... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in a rather amusing 1/2 room on the ground floor. The room was cosy with DVD player provided. Swimming pool was a nice plus. We got a deal for 3 nights but only stayed 2 due to work commitments. Nicely situated for a short walk to town. Breakfast was nice with a cooked to... More

Using the reviews published on this site we subsequently booked a short break at this hotel. Our arrival into Ilfracombe was the first disappointment. The resort typifies a neglected English seaside resort . The area around the Elmfield is punctuated with fire damaged buildings, derelict houses, houses converted into care homes and flats/bedsits. The once 'gated' location of the Elmfield is... More

It is a shame that these guests found their experience of Ilfracombe and The Elmfield disappointing, however I do believe that the source of their disappointment stems not from their breakfast or our surrounds – but rather from the fact that I would not permit this rowdy bunch to drink their own alcohol in our licensed bar, upsetting both the... We stayed at The Elmfield for a weekend in April. We got a very warm and friendly welcome by Zoe and were shown to our room which was bright, comfy and very clean, with everything you should need. Especialy enjoyed the bath. In the morning we had a breakfast to die for. Me and my partner both had the Eggs... More

We stayed at the Elmfield and were slightly dissappointed by the experience. Whilst the welcome from Zoe was warm her husband hardly spoke to us during our stay. The glowing reports and description led us to believe that we were staying somewhere special, however the room, No 4, was very basic and for some reason contained a king size bed... More

We will always make our best efforts to ensure a pleasant stay with us. I have been in touch with Trevor here to ask why he did not bring his issues to our attention during his stay. Trevor’s response was that as he was not paying for his visit himself he did not feel it was appropriate to make any... More
