SITUATION The Leconfield is high on a steep hillside overlooking the sea in a good location for touring IOW. The hotel has its own car park behind the hotel. It is best to pack with several smaller bags than a heavy suitcase as the easiest way to some rooms is via fire escape staircase. It was excellent to have our... More

Just spent one weekend night at The Leconfield with Paul and Cheryl and it wasn't enough! This is a first class guest house, almost of small boutique hotel standard. Spacious, tastefully appointed and with a warm homely ambience. Our room 'The Sandcastle' had a four poster bed and was super clean. Great views out to sea and in the summer... More

Firstly, I would advise anyone considering booking this venue that you ask for all room type availabilities...we were put in a much higher category room than what we needed and charged accordingly, the room was great but the room next door at half the price which was never mentioned was available throughout our stay (only 12 rooms). Be careful what... More

Having just had a one week stay at 'The Leconfield' we feel the most appropriate word to describe it is 'perfection'. Paul and Cheryl were the perfect hosts in their elegant, yet homely and relaxing country house. The food was excellent, the beds extremely comfortable and all rooms beautifully finished and furnished. There are superb views at the front from... More

We’ve just returned from the Isle of Wight and like the last reviewer left it late to book. Paul, the manger, explained that they had just one room left, it was their smallest room and over looked the courtyard. He certainly wasn’t economical with the truth at all and described the room exactly as it was……….though he forgot to mention... More

When booking I explained I was disabled and had trouble walking. I was informed a room was available that would involve climbing two staircases. I was happy with this but was surprised to find on arrival there was a total of 27 steps to our room and one set of stairs was outside the building. As we had booked half... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your constructive comments. As you say, I described the location of the room and the steps required. We are very aware that being built into a steep hillside with all but one room sea-facing our premises have steps to access which we have described in our individual access statement for each room... We spent four nights here and it was a joy. The rooms are fabulous, each with its own theme and identity based around the sea. Paul and Cheryl have obviously thought out what they want to offer to their guests and how to provide it and they do so in bucketloads. Courteous and friendly, nothing is too much trouble and... We were on our way to the isle of wight festival when we heard nightmare stories about the site being a mud bath and people having to sleep in cars. We were on the 20.00 ferry and figured we would probably have to spend a night in the car if we didn't sort something else. I found a magazine with... More
