Stayed in this hotel quite a few times on business, always found the staff to be very helpful and efficient, and the food 1st class. The rooms are large and clean Has a great Leisure Club which guests have free accress to, with sauna, steam room and large pool.

I thought this was a great hotel! Wonderful location, nice rooms, and a fantastic staff. When my daughter forgot the stuffed cat toy (that she bought with her own money) they mailed it to us in the States!

I visited at hotel during a business trip. Hotel is located in a good central location in Durham. I guess thats why they have a lot of visitors and as not much competition around, I guess Marriott has lost it a bit. The hotel was very centrally situated, overlooking the river. The hotel room was very good, though lacked any form of heating in the bathroom. The meals were average, maybe catering for us as a coach group, and therefore not a full choice menu. However, the breakfast choice was first class. The drinks prices in the bar were extortionate.

The best bits: Location - excellent walking distance to the main sites, the catherdral, the castle and the riverside walk from the old bridges. The hotel was located perfectly to see the lovely city of Durham. Our room was fine, not huge but adequate. We had asked for one with a view of the river but the hotel was full. The breakfast was good overall, but the bacon was soggy because it was kept under cover. Dinners were excellent quality.
