Having experienced some excellent Marriott hotes in the UK I was so disappointed with this one. The room as small, the size of the wardrobe in such a small room was claustraphobia inducing. I had to move the bed in order to make space to open the ironing board. There was no sports TV channel in the room unlike other...

Very good hotel in excellent location. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.Rooms are standard Marriott, so you know what to expect. But nevertheless, they were clean and well appointed. Breakfast was a particular feature in terms of the fry, the rest was not very exciting. Good parking in a city with expensive city car parks. Would stay there again.

Very well situated hotel so that you can leave your car & walk everywhere in this small, beautiful city. Hotel staff very pleasant & helpful. We were in the new (relatively) wing overlooking the river. Very comfortable room although bathroom rather dated by today's standards. Also walls were very thin so we were disturbed on the first night. Health suite...

Spent 3 nights one of which was the Gala dinner New Year's Eve. Staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the dinner on New Year's Eve was lovely. Unfortunately, after dinner we were disappointed that the bringing in of the New Year was a bit of a damp squid. We expected the dinner would be followed by...

A truly classic hotel, spacious, luxurious & comfortable rooms. Stayed here as part of a party of 12 for a Xmas celebration meal. After an easy efficient check-in we started the festivities with afternoon drinks & nibbles in the bar, where staff were attentive and extremely polite & friendly. Nothing was a bother to them. In the evening we had...

The evening was billed as PURE MAGIC GALA ..What a complete nonsence it was. PURE DISSAPOINTMENT AND NO GALA WAS LAID ON .Talk about TRADE DISCRIPTION. After our...

We stayed here for two nights in August 2011. The building is an assortment of various structures of varying ages, but the atmosphere, location and amenities are top drawer. With two teenagers, we were given a room with two double rooms and a separate sitting area that provided more than enough room, and despite being on the ground floor overlooking...

We stay here twice a year and have seen the hotel change from being nearly the only decent city centre hotel to now having to cope with more competition. It's basically a great place to stay but does not have the service levels of other Marriott hotels. Check in was disappointing as my Marriott rewards membership was barely acknowledged (compared...

We have stayed at this property on quite a few occasions in recent years while visiting our son who is at Durham University.
We like its central location, the spacious deluxe rooms, the river views and the lovely big beds. However, its biggest selling point to us has been the buffet breakfast which was excellent. On our last trip, however,...
