Having just had a long trip I booked into the Duke of Edinburgh. The parking is accross the road in an open un-secure car park and you have to get a pass to put in the car to stop you getting wheel clamped. This was a bit of a pain as you have to check in, put your bags in... More

We decided to pay a little bit extra and get the executive room so that we had a bit more space as hadn't shared together before - the room was lovely with a great bathroom. The only one thing that I could say let the standard down was that the overhead shower head needed a bit of a scrub -... More

Stayed at this hotel for one night. The room was fine - good size. But the bathroom could have been cleaner. Staff were friendly and helpful - I had an early start before they started serving breakfast but they still sorted out some hot food for me. There is a busy bar on the ground floor but we could not... More

We had an absolutely fantastic wedding reception, the staff could not do enough, the wedding breakfast was excellent serving proper portions and full of flavour Great source of local beers Function suite is beautifully decorated. And clean and fresh, the refurbishments really have excelled this staple part of barrow. The bedroom was spacious, lovely facilities in bathroom, massive bed, extra... More

Loved it. Visited my dad and brothers for the weekend, stayed for two days and loved every minute. Rooms are swish, wifi works a treat and food is seriously delicious. Family went all over south Cumbria and ate at quite a few places, I dont think anything was quite as nice as here. Will post some pictures of the bathroom... More

We must have stayed in the same room as the last reviewer! The rooms were small, but perfectly functional. However, for two rooms to accomodate my mother and myself, with a distance between us to stop either keeping the other awake, for £130 a night including a very good breakfast is very good value in my opinion. The staff were... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. The "family" rooms at the Duke are quite unusual and were something I encouraged as a father to young children. They are quite compact but are designed to offer the option of keeping families... I booked a family room for a one night stay in April 2012. The room had a king size bed and a single bed in a separate room. Both bedrooms and the bathroom were very small and disappointing given what I had read on the reviews about spacious rooms. The sash window in the single room would not open even... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. To be honest, the room you describe (102) is probably the only room we ever get (slightly) critical comments about. I will, therefore, be looking at how we can sharpen up the bedroom for future guests. I will certainly need to take a look at the window not opening as... More

Really liked this place, very modern spacious room, cracking bar, decent food and friendly staff..... Oh and free wifi. Only negative is the car park, sat nav brought me in behind the hotel and car park was not sign posted from this direction. Meant a couple of trips round the one way system before I finally worked things out.
