Hotel clean and rooms are if a decent standard. Noise does travel though and as my room is above the bar I can hear the live band playing. Food in the restaurant is excellent.

This place was cheap and I after reading the reviews on here I presumed it was just one of those rare bargains. It wasn't. I stayed for one day and checked out, I didnt complain because I thought "I've got what I paid for." Nothing really wrong with the room, it was tidy, clean though nothing special and could have... Positives - friendly staff, central location, clean rooms, it was cheap. Negatives - lift not working (hasnt worked for 2 years apparently), rooms are v simple and basic, hotel has a real "budget" feel to it, noisy at night. If you're on a Travelodge budget then give them a miss and stay here. If you've got more than £60 a... More

I stayed (29/5/10) at the Hotel Majestic in Barrow-in-Furness as part of a group of 5 bikers touring the Lake District. From the moment you walk into the Hotel, there is an ambience of friendliness and cleanliness. The hotel looks nothing from the outside, but once inside it is brilliant. The rooms are spacious and minimalist with very modern fixtures... More

The exterior of the Majestic can be off putting, but a recent re-furb means that within the building's shell you will find a good standard of accommodation. The room's are spacious - I've stayed in both double and single rooms - and the bathrooms are clean and modern. All room's have a flat screen television with well stocked tea and... More

Stayed at 20 B&Bs etc en route from Lands End to John o'Groats. Room was biggest and best of the 20. Cost was only average we paid and service was good. Cannot understand negative reviews unless rooms vary enormously. We are in our 70s, value quiet and comfort, and would stay here again.

On our first sighting of the outside of the hotel it looked very brown and dowdy and to be honest the inside reception hall and desk did nothing to dispel that feeling, but once inside the receptionist was friendly and professional. The corridors are clean with good carpeting, the rooms are really spacious, furniture is cheap and basic, but the... More

This was an excellent hotel for the price paid. I paid £35 for a double room for one night, on arrival, all staff were friendly, hotel was in a great position for town centre and nightlife, but far enough away that it was quiet. Room decor was lovely, bathroom clean, all round excellent provision. Alan the night porter was entertaining!... More

We stayed here following a wedding reception and were incredibly impressed. The rooms were sort of brown/cream decor which I found pretty stylish (my parents disagreed but what do they know!) and the bathroom was lovely and spotless. The free breakfast was absolutely delicious, massive and perfect for a wedding induced hangover! The night porter Alan was the absolute star... More
