A very impressive building built in 1914 but looks older. I stayed here as a wedding guest. There is a modern extension to the hotel which is where I stayed. It obviously looks more modern but is built with very similar sandstone to the main building. The grounds are very impressive and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable and... More

The hotel looks fantastic externally but internal not to the same standard but to be honest it does say that it is in the throws of being upgraded. The rooms are large and pleasant but definitely need updating as they are very tired. The food was good. To be honest when you are in the room you can hear all... More

Stayed in April half term as visiting family. We were made aware when booking there may be some noise as it is a popular venue for weddings. When we got our room soon after 8pm we realised we were on top of the party. I am a heavy sleeper and normally can fall asleep, whereas this music was too loud... More

Arrived Saturday late afternoon to attend wedding on Sunday. Very impressed with room 206, clean, spacious and hot. Food good, moderately priced. Must compliment Ben and Alistair for their friendliness and service. The wedding went very smoothly thanks to the efforts of the management team. Would not hesitate to recommend staying at Hotel with its beautiful grounds and walk to... More

We stayed here for a weekend break with my husband and daughter. The room we stayed in (spring room in the four seasons quarter) was very spacious and apart from being slightly dated with the border peeling off in places, and the flusher on the loo being a bit hit and miss, was a very pleasant room. To be fair... More

We've got some Great plans in store for our 'Four Seasons Quarter'! Our Winter room has just been refurbished with the other seasons and the rest of the main house to follow shortly! I'm glad you weren't disturbed by our wedding celebrations, it's not always possible but we do try and keep families away from the party! We often turn... More

a nice enough hotel just outside barrow city centre, designed by edwin lytyens and originally built for the chairman of vickers shipyard. next door to the furness abbey ruins and within nice grounds. the inside is rather worn and not in style with the building itself. rooms are ok, but tired decor and furniture. service is adequate. generally ok but...
