We chose this hotel because you were able to stay for Saturday night only. Several of the other hotels in the area would only take bookings for two nights at the weekend. It proved an excellent choice. They have an excellent restaurant, much of the food being sourced locally. The local cider and perry are worth trying. The restaurant was... More

Stayed here 29th December 2011 for 1 night en route to our new years vacation. Having previously stayed in this town before at the Royal hotel we decided to do so again, however when we arrived at the Royal to check in (booked revious evening online via booking.com) we were told there was no booking for us 1 so we... Best steak and ale pie at lunchtime you'll taste and a great breakfast. Nice room and modern bathroom. Walk around Ross in the morning, visit the information centre just down the road to get a feel for the history of Ross. Brilliant. More

Stayed here for just 1 night passing through after a stay in the black mountains and overall was impressed. I stayed bed and breakfast and had room 8 and found the room very spacious, single and double bed with all the amenities which made it a pleasant stop. Comfy beds, nice range of drinks and biscuits, reasonable size bathroom with... More

The hotel is right in the middle of Ross on Wye. Don't be put off by the scaffolding. Its a lovely old building with lots of period features. The bar, lounge and restaurant are nice areas with lots of locals using the bar. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but well furnished but our bathroom... More

Thank you for your review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay so much, our friendly team and the food presented by our chefs. Being an ancient former coaching inn and having being altered over many years, the hotel's 15 bedrooms are all unique with varying sizes from large to small. The hotel is under a constant long term refurbishment... More

An excellent place to stay. Set on the high street, but no noise. Quirky room....immaculately clean !! The meals were superb (longhorn steak is a must.) One downside, which didn't affect me, but could cause problems, is the steep and narrow staircase. The staff were wonderful and I would definitely recommend staying here, as I'm sure I will again !!! We stayed for one night at the Kings Head in Ross on Wye while cycling through Wales. The rooms are idiosyncratically quirky, the dinner excellent. However, one of our number had to drop out of the trip for personal reasons, so we only needed two rooms rather than three, but they wouldn't allow us to cancel the third, even giving... More

Thank you for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your meal in our restaurant. We are sorry you are unhappy that you had to pay for one room that you had booked. My husband and I stayed in Ross on Wye for the weekend of 9th & 10th September. The hotel was old but felt very homely and the staff were very accommodating. Our evening meal on the 9th was superb and the staff were excellent, we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, thank you. Will definitely be staying again! More
