Haven't visited for many years. Such a transformation. Well done to all concerned. Staff very friendly, our room was first class and the sun shone. Could only stay for a night, must stay longer next time.

Stayed here for my boyfriends birthday with his family, was a great few days.
All of the staff very friendly, a little speedy and abrupt at times but most were pleasant and happy to help. Barman could do with learning how to mix cocktails though.
Food was amazing, they had a great variety on the dinner menue and everything was...

We visited the restaurant on Sunday 13th May for Sunday lunch. We usually eat at Mitch Tonks restaurant the Seahorse and after viewing his website and seeing that the menu was chosen by Mitch with a promise of fresh seafood we decided to visit. The menu on the South Sands website appeared very similar to the Seahorse so we were...

We arrived late on Friday and were greeted very well and made to feel welcome from the start - so lovely to hear the sea from our dragon room window , nothing was too much trouble - they made sandwiches for us when the kitchen was closed and a glass of champagne each for dinner on our last night -...

We stayed for three nights in April after our wedding, and as I travel a lot I just wanted a relaxing break, not too much driving, no flying, plenty of fresh air and walking. The south sands was very relaxin.ng, they were ok with the dogs, and the fish and seafood were excellent, I just loved the soft shell crab...

Had lunch today outside then turned cold so came inside to be told to sit by toilets as not allowed in restaurant as table reserved. 50 mins later we left to see nobody at table. X rude staff. Could be much more welcoming and would encourage us to return and recommend to others.
4th visit to, and surely the last, to this hotel for drinks/coffee. How can so much money be spent in such wonderful surroundings for the experience to be ruined by dreadful service? Went in for a drink in a party of 4 at about 9:30, half an hour later went up to the bar to be told it was closed....

Just returned from spending a few days at South Sands. The hotel is in a magnificent location right on the beach and the facilities and rooms are exquisite. We found the staff to be 'top drawer', highly attentive and very professional. The food in the restaurant was superb and we can honestly say that we can't fault this beautiful hotel,...

Stayed there for a few nights post Easter. Great location but poor staff and in particular the bar staff. Ordered coffee came as weak as water, asked for another - what an attitude no apology and it was like tar. Was the evening meal the following night any better - well asked for bread - still waiting for it to...

Amazing view of Salcombe Bay from our room and due to this we were able to forgive the dirty bed linen, just 'ok' food and noise from the corridor, neighbours.
While you don't go on holiday to Salcombe to watch TV or use the internet, it was annoying that both were really bad given the price.
While the entire place...
