Stayed at the Lakenham one night whist going to a family event in town Located right opposite the Pavillion Gardens and is a lovely Victorian building which is on a quiet road. The room furniture was sympathetic to the building and the breakfast room has some great orginal and collected features. The bedroom was comfy and quiet (faced the rear... More

My friend and I ended up here more by accident than anything else after being turfed out of the Braemar B&B down the road. We could not have been happier. We went to Buxton to do a bit of hiking, so were only really looking for someone decent to sleep with a sizeable breakfast. The Lakenham is a beautiful old... More

we needed a central place to stay and this guest house could not have been better situated. We stayed in a family room with a double bed and single bed and there was plenty of room left, a very large room. It is within walking distance to the centre of town in a pretty and peaceful street facing a beautiful... More

I just stayed the one night for a visit to the Opera House and this B&B was in a perfect locaton. My sister and I were very impressed by the size of the room, the view and the comfy beds. Breakfast was very well cooked. The only drawback was the 9- 9.30am slot for breakfast but presumably this could be... More

It was very frustrating to pay to stay at a place where members of the family that own/live in the B&B were talking noisily late at night in the room next to the room we were trying to sleep in. I knocked on the door next to ours marked 'private' and a teenage boy answered the door. I asked them... More

We booked the Lakenham through the Buxton Tourist Office. We booked a double room on the ground floor with en suite. The Officer in the Tourist Office telephoned to confirm the booking. When we arrived we were given a very small double room on the 3rd floor with a separate bathroom. When we questioned this, we were told firmly that... More

My wife and I decided to visit Buxton in early July, and despite the terrible weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Buxton is a beautiful Victorian town, full of interesting landmarks and things to do, but the main reason we will be visiting again is due to the B+B we stayed at, the Lakenham Guest House. The location of the... More

A disappointing stay at this guest house. We booked an en-suite room but instead were given a double with a private bathroom down the hall. No bathrobes were provided to get between room and bathroom (which also had no shower gels etc). We complained the first morning there and one bathrobe appeared in the room. But no apology until we... More

During our recent visit to Great Britain, my wife and I decided to stay at Bed and Breakfasts, to meet some of the locals and experience local hospitality. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice of Lakenham Guest House in Buxton. This beautiful home was clean and spacious in a quiet tree lined street. Breakfast was wonderful with... More
