The first sight of this hotel was very off putting, windows absolutely filthy and nearly falling out! We managed to get a parking space round the back and left our car and bags there as too early to check in. This left us quite concerned as to what the room was going to be like! It is a very old,... *****IMPORTANT***** THIS IS NOT A FIVE STAR HOTEL SO PLEASE CAN REVIEWERS STOP BEING SO DAMN FUSSY!!!!! This is a very good value for money hotel in Folkestone...I'd recommend it for any nights out for gigs, say at Leas Cliff Hall or other venues. Room was retro but surprisingly big. Bathroom was Tardis-like, you went thinking it was a cupboard... More

I've just returned from the Carlton having stayed for four nights on a coach holiday with Sunrise Holidays. Its a budget hotel, so it's unreasonable to expect any more than that, and I was not dissappointed. Prior to my arrival I had written to the hotel asking for a room on a upper floor overlooking the channel. I was pleasantly... More

We booked this hotel as a stop off on the way to France. The price was £25, which was brilliant for two people plus breakfast. So we knew not to expect the best hotel, though i was surprised. It actually was very nice. The room was big and the bathroom a decent size. Breakfast was okay, a full english with... More

The Carlton is a gracious old building of more than 100 years old. It does need some tender loving care but it is still good. There is a stunning stained glass window on the stair landing.I have not ever stayed in a hotel room where there is more storage space and a lovely large bathroom too. The ladies serving in... More

Was very pleasantly surprised by my stay at this hotel. Rooms were basic but really clean and comfortable. The hotel was really central, the rooms at the front a great view of the ocean and the staff as efficient, friendly and helpful as any formal 5 star hotel stay. Would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.... More

This hotel is very clean and welcoming, the staff are very friendly and could not do enough for you, the breakfast was simple but very good quality. The price was affordable and value for money is excellent. The bar was well stocked and friendly.. the coastline view from the hotel was also very pleasent.. close enough to some lovely restaurants... More

Just got back from the carlton. About £80 for 3 nights b&b & was a pleasant stay. Knew it wouldnt be anything fancy, but as a place to sleep & shower while visiting friends, did the job well. Friendly staff, plenty of tea & coffee in the room, reasonably priced bar & good value breakfast. Only grumbles were pillows could... More

Stayed here in the past week. Hotel was ok but the room i stayed in really needs redecorating as it's peeling and isn't nice to look at. The dining room was absolutely freezing and that needs to be sorted as it made having breakfast a chore. on the plus side the staff were very friendly and helpful i would stay... More

Im a coach driver and have just returned from this hotel after spending 3 nights there with 30 of our customers. The hotel is tired on the outside but when you enter you are greeted with very friendly staff who go above and beyond to help and that goes from managment all the way down every one is there to...
