All kinds of torrid tales have been told about this place so a Saturday night dinner for two was undertaken with some trepidation. We needn't have worried. From the first convivial greeting to the relaxed bar to the excellent menu and equally good wine list, the setting and setup seemed promising. The food was memorable, limitless molluscs, fantastic sole and... More

We stayed the night as we were attending a wedding at Highclere Castle. The room was decorated with lots of pictures of caricatures. I really liked it. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower room very good. If you need to find fault: some might feel that the room was small, but seeing as it was... More

We booked to here for my dads 50th as my parents had previously been and loved it. Despite booking months in advance we were shoved on a table near the bar area. It was right by the kitchen so was very noisy and there were constantly waiting staff going past with food. It was also cold, my back is still... More

We first eat here on a Saturday lunchtime (12th November 2011) as a group of nine on a lovely round table to celebrate a 50th birthday with my wife's family. The food was great as expected for a Marco Pierre-White establishment, and the service efficient. The restaurant has a really cosy feel, and we were so impressed that we re-booked... More

We stayed here for 2 nights earlier this month. The staff were very polite and helpful at all times. The room was clean and comfortable although a little noisy because of the busy main road. We were however disappointed to find the tv did not work and the radiator was cold. I notified the staff who attempted to mend both,... More

We have eaten here more than a dozen times for lunch, early supper and dinner, entertaining family and friends. We have recommended to shooting friends, godparents and overseas guests. Never disappointed with food, service or atmosphere which always matched or exceeded expectations. The staff are superb.

A lovely old inn really nicely done out. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Food was delicious especially the breakfast! The rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The only negative was the road noise!!! No double glazing and boy was it noisy, very little sleep gained which was such a shame as it ticked the boxes... More

If you did not know any different, this unassuming country pub and restaurant, from the outside looks as though the best you will get is a pint of best and a cheese ploughmans! How wrong. Step inside and you will be warmly greeted by extremely friendly front of house staff who provided impeccable service throughout our meal. Faultless and efficient.... More

I've eaten here several times, including as recently as 22nd October, and have always had a good meal, well prepared and skilfully served by staff who appear to take an interest in what they are doing. The ambience is pleasant, if a little dark in places on winter evenings, and I intend to return again.
