Stayed at this hotel after passing it on the way to Balmoral. What a discovery. Room very comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Dinner was exceptional as was breakfast. A great choice and worthy of the very best restaurants. Refreshing that very little plastic is used for packaging i.e. butter, jam, marmalade served in china rather than throw away plastic. Surprised... More

We were looking for a restaurant for a special occasion and after searching the web and reviewing the sample menu posted at the hotel driveway entrance, booked a table. We got a very warm welcome from the hostess and were shown to a table in the lounge for pre dinner drinks. The 3 course table d'hote menu had some interesting... More

This little hotel in Ballater proved to be a very special stop indeed. The personal warm welcome was just the first of several pleasant surprises. The facilities were all just what was required and the important items; bedding and bathroom, were perfect. Dinner proved to be one of the highlights of the trip to Scotland. Three of the most perfectly... More

We stayed at this hotel on the last day of our tour of Scotland and it was excellent. Lovely hosts and the breakfast and evening meal was excellent! I can recommend the sticky toffee pudding as it was to die for. We would definitely recommend and want to stay there again in the future.

My husband and I stayed at this small Victorian hotel last week. The hotel has 3-stars, but indeed, is worth far more than 3* ! We were met on our entry by Penella, one of the owners, who was very charming and extremely helpful, and couldn't do enough for us. Our accommodation was in a superior room with super-king size... Just returned from a 3 day break at the Deeside Hotel. Room was clean ,well decorated but modest. in size. Staff proved to be very pleasant and helpful. There the plaudits must end! What ever happened to the much vaunted dining room. Dinner on two of three evenings was poor Breakfast was worse. There was obviously a serious attempt to... More

Stayed here 2 nights 8th and 9th August and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was spotless (although not to keen on the decor - a matter of personal taste). All staff were extremely polite, chatty and very attentitive. Loved the breakfast - best blackpudding ever!!! Had dinner 2nd night and could not fault it well presented and tastie food. If... More

The Deeside Hotel is a first class Small Hotel which is very well-run and very welcoming. The staff were friendly, efficient and humourous. The food was very good and beautifully presented. Spent 4 nights here in early June. Good size, immaculately presented, very comfortable room with all you would expect. On the edge of this small town but only a short walk to the centre. Delightful riverside walks from the door. Nice lounge and bar area. Tea/coffee provided free all day. Lovely fireplace to enjoy a wee dram or two by.... More
