Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely compact cottage that stylishly delivers a home from home whilst exploring Ballater and surrounding area, great base to walk to local shops and restaurants as well as a great base to take in beautiful walks and drives around the surrounding area. Property is extremely clean and comfortable and well equipped for everything you need during your stay - really would highly recommend this property for single traveller or a couple. We were originally booked for one night but extended out stay to enjoy a further night - we will be back

The cottage was very cute and well worth the low price. With full features and a beautiful hardwood floor it exceeded expectations. We could have easily stayed for weeks on end. Nothing but happy and we would love to come back here and support Lisa

Stayed at Lisa & Martins lovely cottage for a weekend with our wee Labrador Spangle. Had a lovely stay in a beautifully modern cosy cottage. The bed is super comfy and the kitchen has everything you would need to self cater too! Will definitely return.

Spent 5 nights in the cottage next to Fairdene B & B. A lovely little holiday cottage, beautifully fitted out and comfy and close to the centre of Ballater for shops and restaurants. On one floor which was a bonus for my husband who finds stairs a problem. Thank you Lisa.

Stayed in the Fairdene B&B during the summer of 2014. Beautiful little self contained cottage, the owners Lisa and Martin live in the family house next door. Lisa and Martin were on hand to advise the best walks, restaurants and other relevant local information. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, private off road parking is available as well. Will definitely go back next year, the scenery around ballater is spectacular.

We were after a room for the night but ended up in the cottage which was a real bonus. It was nice to have the extra space and all the facilities were modern. Lisa gave us a warm welcome and suggestions for dinner. In the morning she brought us a cooked breakfast. She does a great job of balancing family, work and B&B commitments. It is just a short walk into the town and the location is very quiet.

We recently stayed in the self catering holiday cottage at Fairdene B&B. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts. Fantastic accommodation with everything you could possibly need. Very modern and stylish and spotlessly clean. We were provided with an excellent cooked breakfast. We could not fault our stay in any way and have already booked again for next year. Thank you Lisa!

My wife and I stayed in the holiday cottage for 3 nights recently, and have to say enjoyed our stay. The cottage has an oldie world charm from the outside, but is contemporary and spotless inside. There is off-road parking and free fast Wifi available. Close by there are pubs, a fish shop, cafes and various shops. Our hosts Lisa and Martin provided us with a hearty breakfast each morning, and were helpful in suggesting places of interest for us to visit etc, and we thank them for making us welcome. We can recommend Fairdene as a B&B as it is peaceful and ticks all the boxes.

We stayed in the holiday cottage for a week in August. The cottage has been done up very modern and is lovely and clean. It was also very cosy and I can imagine lovely and warm in the winter. It is nice to be so near to the village so you can just come and go as you please. Very quiet and so very peaceful. Ballater in itself is a hidden gem, surrounded by mountains with the beautiful River Dee running through it and so many walks and stunning places to explore.

We used the self catering cottage that it part of the B & B and it was very comfortable and well equipped. Free wifi is included and the location is delightfully quiet. Our host was very welcoming and we highly recommend this property. We have also used the B & B herre as well and it's equally good as is the breakfast served.
