We liked this hotel very much. We travel as a family of 4, so we booked a family room, which was spacious and clean ( 2 bedrooms) with a cute view on a swimmingpool arrounded by flowers and plants. There are 2 pools and also bungalows have their own pools.
The hotel looks like a big farmhouse typical for Malta and Gozo- and we were looking a place like this .
We booked a half board and I have to say that food and service for a dinner were excellent. So kind regards for waiters.
The most important person who made our staying so comfortable was a manager. He resolved every problem quick and with a smile and makes everything to delight his guests.
So if you are going to Gozo (we recommend it for at least 3 nights as we were or more, because Gozo is more green and still like a countryside unlike Malta) and you dont like to sleep arrounded by big blocks and prefer quiet place but prefer hotels than private appartments or house, choose Cornucopia..
Ps.one small thing I recommend for a 4 stars hotel is a greater variety for a breakfast.

After seven years I returned to Gozo, this time with my partner, and again stayed in the lovely and comfortable Cornucopia Hotel.
Our room was quite large, with a small patio overlooking the quiet road and views towards Marsalforn. It seemed the rooms had been upgraded, the furnishings were definitely much better than last time, there was plenty of storage space, a TV with international channels, and a spacious bathroom. WiFi in the room was also much better, but best on the little terrace in front of the room. Cleanliness was excellent.
Breakfast was included, and although buffet style, it was served by the staff because of Covid restrictions. There was all you needed for a full English breakfast, although we stuck to a light Continental one. There was juice, croissants and rolls, toast, jam, cereal, yoghurt, some cheese and cold cuts etc. I wish there'd been a better choice of fresh fruit instead of the fruit salad, but we certainly didn't go hungry.
We stayed for dinner one night, and the food was definitely much improved from last time. The choice for my vegetarian partner was limited, but fine for a short stay. My mushroom starter was ok, but my main course of pumpkin and truffle risotto was fabulous. He thought his mains of penne aglio olio and peperoncini was a little light, but we both very much enjoyed our desserts: lemon meringue pie and pear tart, utterly delicious. The wine list is very good, but we just had to try a local red - a Victoria Heights merlot, very quaffable and just EUR14 for a full bottle.
October was a bit past the swimming season, but it was still nice relaxing by the two lovely pools, and I even braved the coolish water to swim.
The location is just about walking distance from the village square, and a bus stop slightly closer. Being just outside the centre means it's peaceful and quiet.
The staff a very helpful and friendly, and Peter at reception is a treasure. The best place to stay in Xaghra!

What a hidden gem! Such a pretty hotel with stunning views. It felt a little like going back in time as it just seemed to exude the old fashioned values and service that seem to be in decline elsewhere. Hotel was very clean with impeccable service and friendly, helpful staff. We were half board and the meals were delicious, a buffet breakfast catered for all needs with a choice of continental or full English. Dinner menu was a l carte with a choice of three starters, mains and dessert. Portions were good and the food was fresh and piping hot.
The only minor gripe is that the hotel could use a little tlc. Our shower curtain was frayed at the edges, the towels radiator was rusty and the towels had seen better days. The pool area looks like it once had a waterfall which was sadly broken. Some extra cleaning on the ledges in the dining room was needed as on close inspection they were very dusty. Having said that, some of this added to the hotels rustic charm.
We found this to be a peaceful and tranquil hotel, within walking distance from the town and close to a bus stop. Overall we would highly recommended and we would love to return.

We booked this hotel last minute and really enjoyed our stay
We had a standard room which was large a big bathroom with bath and shower.
Maid service every day. Towels changed everyday and bedding often
2pools and a kids pool all areas clean plenty of sun beds chairs umbrellas and little tables
Restaurant was large well laid out with space between tables
Breakfast was buffet style but due to COVID the staff served you but you could have as much or as little as you wanted.
My only thing was they had small cups and we love a mug of tea in the mornings, so Brian buy some mugs!!! Lol
Staff are amazing cannot do enough for you they made our holiday
Meals were amazing we ate there on an evening chefs you rock!
Thank you Brian Maria and all the staff
To the 3 young girls going to university best of luck to you all
We recommend this hotel

We have been coming to this hotel for around 28 years and we visit once or twice a year. It is located above a picturesque valley in a very quite environment. It is an ideal spot if you want to stay in a serene environment. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Rooms have all necessary amenities including ironing facilities, tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries etc...Breakfast is varied and caters to everyone's tastes. The only drawback is that the 3G mobile reach is very weak and the hotel's wifi does not reach all areas of the hotel, with the same strength. This time round we were in a room where the wifi signal was non-existent and we also could not use our data connection because reception was very poor. However, this is not a make or break issue if you want to plug off from the rest of the world and have a re-energising break.

I travelled to Gozo for a weekend break by myself, stayed at the Cornucopia Hotel for 1 night. The staff are friendly and did their best to help me with a particular mobile charging issue.

Room that I stayed was clean, well lit naturally including night lamps plus all amenities expected from a hotel like comfortable bed, tv, desk & very mini bar, bathroom. Hotel itself is also well kept which includes some 3 swimming pools and open areas for relaxing.

Area near hotel in Xagħra is a bit quiet but room have nice views overlooking Tas-Salvatur Hill and of course sunset. Still like 5-10minutes walk can easily arrive at village centre.

Good priced which included a great selection for breakfast. Highly recommended to stay in Cornucopia Hotel!

Grazzi minn Malta u Għawdex :)

Cornucopia Hotel

We loved the charming olde world surroundings and the location was pretty close to the village square.
After a taxi hiccup (charged 30 euros for half mile trip into square and back), we settled into a much enjoyed holiday, taxi money being totally refunded! Use Bolt, an app with very well priced taxis.
The hotel manager, Brian, couldn't do enough for us and we upgraded to a lovely room overlooking the valley.
The barman mixes a good cocktail and nothing was too much trouble.

Felt relaxed from the moment we walked into this traditional lovely charming hotel and we were greeted by friendly but very professional staff. Brian, the manager obviously led his staff by example. Seemed to be always working and not afraid to get stuck in and help wherever it was needed. No wonder the staff seemed to be so happy with a boss like that. Reception, restaurant, bar and cleaners all excellent. Our room overlooked the valley with beautiful view’s from the spacious balcony. A comfy double bed with tea/coffee making facilities and a small fridge included. Shower over the bath that at first looked to be basic but worked better than many modern showers. Always plenty of hot water. Soap dispensers. Only slight fault is we thought the bath towels could do with replacing.

We were half board and found the food to be good with plenty of choice. Good buffet breakfast, waiter service evening meal. Two lovely, clean pools. We tended to use the lower one because it was quieter.
BBQ with live entertainment once a week which was excellent otherwise it is very low key but we met some lovely people and after dinner sat outside chatting over drinks.
The village is only 15 mins walk away with a central square surrounded by bars/restaurants.
The local bus service is very good, turns up on time, air conditioned and very clean AND incredibly cheap. Definitely worth using. It was very hot whilst we were there so didn’t do many of the things we planned but a good excuse to return.

Finally would like to say this was the first time we have travelled with Jet2 but won’t be the last.
Couldn’t fault any aspect from the moment we checked in at East Midlands airport to our rep, Terry, who was a good source of information. We are looking forward to our next holiday in a couple of weeks.
Thank you Jet2.

We visited for three nights and enjoyed the unique ambience of the place, which is based mainly on a rustic style. The staff were exceptionally nice and courteous, always ready to go the extra mile to serve the clients. The Manager was ever so friendly, he personally showed us to our room and helped us carry our luggage upon our arrival.
We were on half board basis and we were served with a la carte menu every night with tasty meals which included rabbit, sword fish, chicken, beef olives and veal as main dishes. A plate of pasta or soup or antipasto was always available as a starter.
Our previous visit to Cornucopia was ten years ago, we shall certainly not wait so long for another visit.
Albert and Elizabeth Micallef.

We stayed in an absolutely beautiful suite. It had panoramic views over the valley and out to sea. We sat and watched the sun set on the main balcony every evening and then the bats come out. The room was kept spotless, always clean towels and tea/coffee replaced daily. We only spent a couple of days around the two pools, both kept very well. Loads of sunbeds and hotel towels if you prefer not to bring your own.
We stayed half board, originally we booked this as the hotel sounded in the middle of no-were, so we never intended to eat there every night, but the food in the hotel was so good we never ventured down to the village in the evening. The evening meal was a set menu on half board with a choice of three starters, three mains and then three sweets every evening. you can also pay for this at 30euros per person if you were not on half board. Our regular waiters during our ten days were Mario and Joshua both very attentive and Joshua always explained the menu every evening.
Brain the hotel manager is extremely hard working, he always seemed to be at the hotel, morning, noon and night. He is also very helpful and friendly especially as he never stops. We even saw him helping in the kitchen and also serving in the restaurant both morning and evening. He is obviously very proud of the hotel he works for and not afraid of getting his hands dirty.
The village is about a ten minute walk, there is a beautiful church, half a dozen restaurant/bars in the square. A couple of grocery shops.
We used the buses during our stay. The time tables are in the hotel pinned up by reception. It cost 2euro each for a ticket which last for two hours. We also used the fast craft over to Valletta this was 15euro each for a return ticket.
To sum it up, we would highly recommend this hotel and have intentions to go back in the future.

I’m not sure. The machine in the restaurant was ok but I don’t recall it having the beans on top dropping down to be grinded. The one day the machine packed up the staff made flasks of coffee which tasted better but assume they used ground coffee.

Send an email to the Cornucopia. The staff are usually quick to reply to emails. I've found that the chefs do take a delight in catering for minority diets.
