When you feels wanna have some rest, escape from city environment, enjoy the diving, having nice sunset view, early morning see the Kinabalu peak, Mantanani Island is the place to visit!! It takes, 1hours 30mins by bus from KK city to reach the jetty. It takes 45mins to reach the island. For those have a seasick, better have the pill... More

I can agree with the points about the greta location and the quirky but great accomodation. You can always tay in a 5 star hotel. Enjoy the views. Yes the beach could be cleaned up a bit more often ,but we found the staff (as apparently everywhere in Malaysia ) were most helpfuln and smiley. Easter sunday night was a... More

On a day trip from Kota, this is island is a gem. I was told by the staff that the amenities are really very basic w/o aircon - which means it can get very hot during summer. Beach front isn't gorgeous but the water is so clear and clean. A day trip worth taking if you want to escape the... More

I felt compelled to write a short review after staying here for 3 days in December. The location is just amazing- if you are looking for somewhere quiet and idyllic then this is the place to go. The wooden huts are basic, but their location overlooking the beautiful white sandy beach and turquoise waters definitely outweighs the gaps in the... More

I think the previous reviewers have described this place well, it has many good points but a few bad points as well. First the good. The location is just gorgeous, a small tropical island a long way from the stresses of the city. The water is warm, clear and incredibly blue, perfect for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving. There are... More

Mantanani island has really something special, and it takes a day to get the right feel of the island. Life is just so slow that you need to get used to it. Nothing to do except watch the shallow water and the reefs. It is really great! Lodge is a bit deceptive: a big volley ball field in the middle... More

We stayed 3 nights and 4 days and I did 4 fun dives whilst my partner did her open water course.A short 10 min speed boat trip to the dive lodge near the adjacent island.Jaclyn (dive master) was great with diving and pointed out lots of interesting under water life. The accomodation on the island is basic but adequate, and... More

During the past two decades of travelling extensively in every corner of Sabah, I’ve been lucky to stay in most of the jungle lodges, luxury resorts, simple homestays, dive lodges, longhouses and other accommodation. Every so often, I come across a place so special that I’m almost reluctant to share it in case it becames too popular and therefore looses... More

My husband and I stayed here on a one night/two day package and absolutely loved it! The beach is lovely and clean and the sea is great for snorkelling from just the beach area (we saw clown fish and loads of other colourful varieties). We went on a snorkelling trip the next day where we saw more colourful fish and... More

We stayed here for three days in a "dorm" which is a small 2-story chalet which suited the 4 of us just fine. The beach was pretty clean by SE Asian standards with nice safe swimming and very clear water. We also paid extra for the snorkelling with good visibility (5-8 m) and saw a turtle and heaps of fish... More
