The room was comfortable and the wifi access fast at all times. The breakfast buffet was excellent and was always being replenished.... cereals, fresh fruit, tomatoes, cucumbers, wholesome bread and biscuits, cheeses and hams, meats.... juice, milk, tea, coffee,...... enough to fill you up for the day.... and that´s worth a lot given that a three course meal in Iceland... Stayed there for 1 night in April 2013. Guesthouse is really close to the harbour and the Laugarvegur street located. Only walk 15 minutes to downtown. Guesthouse has new owners since last week. Really nice and warm welcome. Family told us where we could go for dinner. We have been the only guests because it was not high season. Rooms... More

Although referred to as a good guesthouse, I would not recommend Alba guesthouse. It lays right next to one of the busiest demerges of Reyjavik, rooms are small and very noisy. The double beds are very small, we did not have a good night sleep. Traffic, both road and airport, will keep you up all evening/night. Rooms are clean but... More

We had a great time staying here. We were well looked after throughout, the rooms were well organised albeit basic. The breakfast is only available for an hour, but the staff were flexible when we needed it earlier. It's a continental breakfast plus cereals, tea, coffee and juice. There are no televisions or in fact anything beyond the most basic... More

Alba Guesthouse has a quite reasonable pricing for a three person bedroom BUT the 3rd bed was completely unsleapabul . We ended up all using the king size bed instead. We spoke to the manager who just said "we have not had any complaints about the bed before" - and she was somewhat unwilling to help us. In the end... More

The building housing the Alba Guesthouse has the clean lines of mid-century Modern. The decor tends towards Bauhaus, with minimal decoration--Gustav Klimt posters excepted--blond wood floors, and well-styled furnishings. The small common area is equipped with a comfortable couch and chairs plus coffee table. Rooms have sinks and wardrobes--all quite tasteful; this may be why twin rooms feel cramped. Breakfast... The Alba is located a little off the beaten path - about a 15 minute walk from the BSI bus terminal - but the location is quiet and convenient to the city center. Just across the street is a beautiful park with playground, and downtown is a 5-10 minute walk from there. You will appreciate the Alba's location away from... More

A really amazing value! Only 10 minutes walk from the city center, we chose to stay at Alba for 5 nights during a recent trip. We were planning on moving locations, but liked Alba so much that we extended our stay! Rooms are clean and pleasant, though in typical Reykjavik fashion rather sparse. Shared bathroom. Staff was very friendly and... More

Amazing place to stay for those looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay. There were three of us sharing a room for six days. The room was clean, comfortable, and pleasant. The breakfasts in the morning were generous and delicious, and key to being able to be ready in the morning for some of the tours we took outside... More

Booked on line (www.alba.is) and had a quick response, and initial payment done on line aswell. Stayed here during a too short 4 day trip to Iceland and could not have chosen better. The owner was so helpful, the staff courteous and efficient. Breakfast with coffee was excellent, as were the delicious mini croissants. Almost as good as French ones,... More
