Going to Stockholm a couple of times per year this is a predictable favourite. Right from the reception, front desk people, cleaning personnel, waiters etc etc are all friendly, efficient and not mechanical at all in their hospitality. Rooms are wonderful, great beds and linen, breakfast a real treat with anything you like - especially the home baked bread is... More

Stayed a couple of nights each in both hotels in May 2012; a "suite" at Viking and a de luxe room at Rival (no suites available) - both with balcony. I wanted comfortable space and the ability to smoke. Rival wins out - the room was adequate rather than large, only slightly smaller than the Viking, but only SK3950 c/w... More

I stay here frequently when traveling for work to Stockholm. The hotel is centrally located across from a charming small park. It's close the shops in the Soedermalm neighborhood and easy walking distance to old town. Small rooms but in typical Swedish sensibility, very well laid out. The staff is pretty trendy and hip as well as being professional and... More

Spent a long weekend in the Rival. Location is central in the upcoming area Soedermalm, only 15 minutes walk to the old town. Clean rooms with many amenities such as DVD's, CD's, minibar, comfortable bed, not to forget free wifi and free cafe machine on the floor. Staff very competent and friendly. If you don't feel like going out at... More

We have been at the Rival Hotel already 5 times I think. We used to go to Hotel Birger Jarl, which we thought was fine quality/price. Until they decided to increase prices dramatically from one day to another (from 1390 SEK to 2200 SEK approx). We started to look around for other possibilities - if we were to pay more,... More

I had originally planned to stay a few days at the Rival and then to move to the Grand Hotel to try that out. After a few days at the Rival, I cancelled my upcoming reservation at the Grand, and stayed on at the Rival. This place is modern, clean and the staff are incredibly friendly. It's also located in... Stayed here for one night meeting up with my wife who was in Stockholm on business. Let's put the record straight, she is an ABBA fan and thought it would be funny to stay here. I'm not and was a little anxious. I needn't have been. The place is very chic and the ABBA theme is very low key (in... More

My first and last impressions of this hotel is that it is absolutely excellent. I had very good assistance from reservations officials when I cancelled my booking and wanted to re-instate it again. Free wifi everywhere in the hotel, logon credentials are provided upon request. The rooms are stylishly modern decorated. Front office staff also very friendly. Such a joy... More

Wonderful hotel, very well located and excellent service. The hotel is owned by a member of Abba, so that explains the titel of this review ;-) We stayed in Stockholm for three days and felt like celebrating every time we went back to the Rival after a day of sight seeing.

You really feel the difference as only you approach the reception and the corridor. The carpets are extremely soft and thick , the rooms are perfectly designed, the enetertainment system is great -you can choose between dvd, cd, tv free of charge and you can watch it or listen even from the bathoom thanks to loud speaker system even at...
