The newest, cheapest way for families, groups and couples to enjoy Thessaloniki in hospitable, smart, self-catering studios that have everything you need - 15 minutes walk from the Thessaloniki Downtown (Ano Poli). Hotel accommodation at hostel prices! Brand new and just opened!
This was a great little hostel hidden in the upper part of Thessaloniki. We booked a private room with my boyfriend on two different occasions. Pros: Really huge air conditioned rooms (note: for non private rooms airconditioning is charged a few bucks extra), with faciities like a private kitchen and a lot of cutlery for cheap (19 euros per person). Very nice view of the city - the old town and the sea and port at a distance. It was especially nice to watch sunrise and sunset from there. The location is very nice and quiet - tons of cats, some old-timey buildings, stone streets, ruins etc if you are into this kind of stuff. It is pretty close to Aristotelous square too, though there are other hostels that are more central Also, the staff was nice and helpful - for instance, I forgot my glasses on my first stay and they kept them for me. There is also the opportunity to socialize with other people in the garden. Cons: It does require some uphill walking, which with luggage is tiring, but we did it the first time. Well, the second we took a cab from the city (3 euros),so it is really a minor thing. Another minor thing is that the bathroom did not have lights installed. Also, although this was not an issue for us, it is located in somewhat of a gypsy neighborhood. Overall, I would totally recommend it, just do yourself a favor and take a cab - cabbies now have gps devices so you can just tell them the address.…

Just spent 3 nights at Studios Arabas. It's a family run place near the center of the city. I stayed in a room with 4 other people. The room was clean and had a small fridge and a bathroom. This is an excellent option for people on a budget. The staff is friendly and very helpful. It is a hostel and the clientele is mostly younger travelers. However there were some more "experienced" travelers there during my stay and everyone got along quite well. It would be nice if they added lockers of some sort, but you can leave your valuables with reception while you are out. I would stay here again without hesitation.

So at times it did smell a little bit like cats, but that can be overlooked. Dora the owner is delightful in every way! There was a knock at my door from her telling me that she had cooked me some lunch, she brought me coffee and is has knowledge to share with you about Greece and the rest of thesaloniki. It's a fifteen minute walk to the train station and the same to the white tower making it conveniently located.
