This hotel is fairly well placed for the old town with it's narrow and curious little shopping streets. Another few hundred yards brings one to the Fortezza which is on a promontory and overlooks the town. The hotel has a designated area on the beach for residents with umbrellas and loungers available. But, it isn't really private there is a... More

Just returned from a 7 week stay on half board and have enjoyed our stay. The hotel is not quite a 5 star hotel as rated, but it is clean, comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Booked the Auila Porto Rethymno because the description was within walking distance of bars and restaurants, which it is, but the location... More

Have just returned from a week at the Porto hotel and had a mixed experience. The hotel lobby is nicely decorated, spacious and the reception staff are very welcoming on arrival. Our room was a standard room and again was nicely decorated and spacious. The balcony had no sun at all and faced the street, which was not a great... More

We have just had a great holiday in this hotel. Lots of Russian visitors (noisy and a bit ill - mannered), but other nationalities are present. Food was excellent with a great variety. Prices are a bit high for drinks or wine, but the service was superb. The upmarket restaurant at the front (which you can swop a dinner for... More

I agree it is a strange building which doesn't make the most of the sun. This is probably a plus when the weather is very hot. It has quite a small footprint and therefore the pool areas are small. However the beach is across the road and is spotless. The reception staff were very helpful and printed off additional timetable... More

Quick and simple. No WOW factor. Strange building. And it has 6 FLOORS, that we didn't know. Sea view, no sun at all. We had sea view (side sea view), morning sun if you are up a height - 5th floor and above! Horrible small main pool. Freezing pools (April-May). Very hot weather. Private beach never private - invaded by... More

This is a very user friendly hotel, with excellent staff and a very good location. There are spacious common areas, spa, fitness area, 2 pools and a private area on the beach directly in front of the hotel. The bedrooms are a bit bland and it is not a boutique style hotel, but highly recommended for a week by the... More
