We just spent a week in Madeira, and as it was a last minute we didn't exactly know where we would stay. The Baia Azul hotel was a pleasant surprise, nice room, large and clean bathroom with all facilities, a small refrigerator and a very large terrace from where we still had a magnificent view of the sea, although we... Lovely hotel, modern and attractive. Staff helpful, hotel well looked after and clanGood use of space, great sun terraces. Good location - hilly,as is all Funchal. Bus stop outside, courtesy bus to town available and stop for hop on/hop off buses nearby. Lots of restaurants nearby but quality of food in hotel and restaurants a little disappointing. Loved Madeira -... More

The hotel is situated around a 10 minute walk from the centre of Funchal atop a hill, this mean you enjoy stunning sea views from the restaurant and your room (book a sea view room) One of my favourite things to do here was simply to eat breakfast on the balcony as the sun rose, it's at this point I... (25th march to 1st April). Travelling with our 11 yr old son, we weren't sure if Madeira would be his "cup of tea". The hotel went a long way to making it an enjoyable experience for us all. I liked the fact that the Lido area is a lot quieter than the city centre with a great choice of retaurants... More

My husband and I just went for a week away to Funchal and stayed at the Baia Azul. (25th March until 1st April). The hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful and mulitlingual. All the staff speak perfect English and German and many speak other languages. Yes the place is a bit dated but very clean and everything was... More

Excellent location, very close to the beach, decent breakfast, normal staff. The building is slightly old fashioned and bit too big, also little refurbishment wouldn't hurt, but overall it's pretty good.. There are days when the hotel might organize a live music concert, however that doesn't happen very often, so entertainment wise you will have to go out, especially if... More

Excellent hotel, great location, staff all very helpful and pleasant, buffet breakfast plentiful and excellent choices. Entertainment was pretty poor though. Bedrooms were very good and spacious,I had a side sea view overlooking the road with lots of choices of very good, reasonable restaurants nearby. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for one week in December 2012, a last minute get away from the English winter, and what a surprise the Baia Azul gave us. Having read some of the reviews on tripadvisor we were not expecting very much (especially as we had payed so little) but from our arrival everything was above expectations. The staff were without exception... More

This was our first visit to Madeira - and it won't be our last. What a charming Island and such cheerful friendly people. This pretty much summed up the Baia Azul. We stayed for a week in October as part of a group. From check-in to departure, the Hotel was excellent. All the staff were very friendly, and of course... More
