This is a basic hotel with clean rooms and a great location. We had a room at the back which had two sets of windows which cut out noise. It is off the main street and felt safe. There are several restaurants around - some very expensive seafood ones but also some good local ones at reasonable cost.

If you can get this hotel (room felt more like a hostal room) at a good price it is in a great location.. I would stay here again ONLY if the price was right.. I have just returned from a 5 week driving tour of Spain and Portugal and this was the most basic room of the trip... I don't... More

spent a long weekend with my boyfriend in Lisbon and stayed at Alegria. Quite small hotel with a "familiy feeling" to it. Rooms were very cute, a bit "rustique" but cute... felt very personal and more like someone's guest room than a hotel room. some will say "by night it is a bit loud from the street", because you are... We spent 3 nights at this hotel. Its a clean and simple hotel and what you would expect for the price you pay. The location is perfect. Its right in the heart of Lisbon a few steps away from Avendida Liberdade. A short walk will get you to the Aerobus pickup/drop off, to the metro and the station. We didn't... More

We stayed here 17/2/11,we had booked for 3 nights but left after the first night. It wasn't what I really expected even for what we would call a guest house in the UK. The room was really tiny for a double room.it was Febuary and the heating was poor we also spotted some bugs in the bedding.

Good points: Location — Just off the main avenue, public transport and shops at hand, nice walk to main squares and Baixa. Lovely little park just outside the door. Service — the people at the desk smiled and might have been helpful if we had asked them to be. It was clean, though our rooms hadn't been aired for a... More

Great location and our rooms were very clean. However, lots of things didn't work and even when we told the staff, they were not fixed. Our shower could not be fixed to the wall - so just a hand shower. One light didn't work - despite them handing me a new lightbulb (!) it still didn't and the lighting was... More

Excellent location : great room - plenty space , quiet location. There was some noise in corridors at night - but then ingnorant , selfish travellers seem to get all over these days . Breakfasts offered plenty of choice & were more than ample .And only a tenner in a taxi to the airport. It has charm & personality that... More

Initially found it worth trying to negotiate one of the nicer rooms, but we had a good room overlooking the square. The square is 100 yards off the main Avenida de Libardade, so we were worried that it might turn out to be noisy, but we had no such problems and this turned out to be a quiet place very... More

The lovely, central location is the top plus for this hotel. Another plus is the cleanliness. The beds are very hard as noted by others and the breakfast is self-service and poor quality. The light switch in our room dropped to the floor when pressed. The extractor fan was not working. The staff were generally nice, except for the man at... More
