Our group of four retired firefighter returned to the Hortensia having discovered it 3 years earlier. It is an excellent base from which to explore. Véronique, who speaks perfect English and Michaël provided the same warm welcome that we had remembered. The Hortensia was in a great location near to all we wanted to visit, good clean rooms and excellent breakfast. Easy free parking near by and Michael and Veronique very helpful. Highly recommended by myself and my two sons and we wouldn`t hesitate to stay here again.

If staying in Ieper I can highly recommend the Hortensia guest house. The room was spotless, the breakfast was excellent and our hosts Michael and Veronique were wonderful. We are looking forward to our next stay at the Hortensia in July.

The B&B Hortensia is a beautiful, friendly, clean place to stay, when visiting Ypres. It's inside the walls of Ypres, right next to the Rijselpoort, and close to everything (cathedral, meningate, market, etc...). From the outset, Veronique was a great hostess. She spent considerable time, over coffee and cake, giving us useful tourist information about WW1 sites, etc. Our room and bathroom were both a good size and we didn't hear any church bells! She also suggested free parking places very close by as the spaces opposite are metered. The breakfast was good... More

We arrived just after 17:00 and warmly received by Veronique. After been shown to our room we were then made a lovely coffee and asked whether we had any questions? In September 2012 we booked a room for two nights. Being Seniors, we found the room to be in-accessible (Third floor walk up) and too sparse. We were required to pay for two nights even though we were not going to stay there. They promised to reimburse us if the room was used. Never heard from them and they never... More
