It's perfectly situated for exploring the Western Front. The accomodation is very nice, clean and well maintained. The farm has it's own museum of amazing WW1 relics dug up from around the farm, it's quiet a suprise just what is there. Dirk is easy going and very knowledgeable, he's full of good advice.

I spent one night here with my husband and 2 children. We had an absolutely fabulous time. Barbara gave us a very warm welcome with home-made apple pie. She then provided maps and information about the area and suggested places we might like to see. We stayed in the family room which was huge - more like an apartment! We... More

My parents and I stayed for a few days at Varlet Farm on our 'pilgrimage' to the Western Front. From the moment we were welcomed by Barbara with homemade appletart, it was one of the best accomodation places I have stayed in. The knowledge Barbara and her father Dirk were prepared to give, their trip suggestions, the marvellous 'museum' in... More

Just had a few days at Varlet Farm, the welcome by Dirk and the hospitality of him and his daughter Barbara is unmatched by any other B&B we have stayed in. This is the only place to stay in my opinion in the area. The room, breakfast, museum in the barn were fantastic. We went on our motorbikes and security... More

My son and I stayed here last week for 4 nights during a visit to the WW1 sites in Flanders. Very welcoming hosts, Dirk and daughter Barbara, in a B&B right on the Passchendaele battlefield. The rooms are first class and the substantial breakfast is as good as it gets. We were able to make a packed lunch at breakfast... More

Lovely room & a very warm welcome, breakfasts were good & how they keep their boiled eggs from going hard is a mystery. Great accommodation with many WW1 sites in close driving distance or walking if you want Dirk & Barbara were very helpful with advice about the local area, we had a great stay.

This was my second place to stay during my 4 day tour of the world war one battlefield sites in Belgium. I booked two nights as the location seemed ideal and it came with a number of positive reviews from tripadvisor. The owner was very informative and helpful when it came to guidence. He also has a collection of genuine WW1... More

The welcome starts from the minute you arrive to cake and coffee. A lovely relaxing retreat for 2 tired travellers. Very clean rooms, space to relax in the room or in the lounge to meet other guests. A great base to explore surrounding war graves or even a day trip to Burgee and a fabulous breakfast to start your day... More

Dirk and his daughter Barbara made us feel welcome the minute we walked through the door, greeting us with coffee and superb apple pie. I wanted a B & B where I could explore the various WW1 battlefields in the Ypres Salient with ease and relative comfort. Varlet Farm was the perfect location and exceeded all expectations. Dirk loaned us... More

Varlet Farm is truely a wonderful place to stay all the comforts of home. You are greeted with apple pie and coffee. You will need a GPS to get around the narrow roads. Dirke and Barbara couldn't do enough for us. They even did my washing for me., spoke great English Thank you Kit and Wendy Chambers NZ
