Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for 2 nights in December with Family booking a standard double and a triple. This is now a beautiful Hotel rather than the Hostel it was previously. Hotel is above Gran Kaffee de passage and rooms have been recently renovated. If you arrive before check in at 3 you can access the luggage room so you can’t start exploring Bruges. It’s in a very good location just off one of the main shopping streets. Our rooms were nicely decorated in theme with this beautiful building. Very large comfy bed and quality bedding. Great shower supplied with shower gel, shampoos and soap. Room safe, plenty of hanging space but no kettle or tea making facilities. The double room was really good and essentially warm on what was a very cold weekend. Our triple room was at the front of the building with beautiful picture windows and high ceilings, unfortunately when renovated the only heating added was via an air conditioning unit which could also heat. It was not adequate for the room and our room was freezing for the first night, however when I spoke to staff in the morning they apologised and provided an extra heater. They really need to address this or have the extra heater in the room permanently. Breakfast was nice, fresh bread and pastries, ham, cheese, jams etc and eggs. I would recommend pre booking before you arrive. We also ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night which was really good and important to note we could not hear any noise in our room from the busy restaurant. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you are looking for well priced accommodation in Bruges.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Whilst we visited the Christmas markets. Great location. Great room. Only slight downside was travelling with 2x females, there was only 1 very small mirror and that was in the bathroom. To make it a 9/10 it would have been nice to have tea or coffee in the room.

Beautiful building and restaurant in ground floor. There was no lift but the service was very good. We were offered assistance even outside the hotel by a very friendly and helpful staff, something we had never experienced

It seems this page was originally for the hostel that sat above the Gran Cafe de Passage, but it is now a hotel, and has been for a couple of years, I believe. Previous reviews can therefore be disregarded (apart from the most recent). I booked in for three nights on a solo trip to Bruges. The rooms were modern and clean, the service was very accommodating and the hotel is in a great location. A 5 minute walk from so many attractions! I enjoyed my stay, and slept very well in a comfortable bed. I've not given 5 stars as I felt the rooms should have at least come with a glass or two, maybe soap soap or handwasg for the bathroom sink. There was also an issue with breakfast while I was there: one day, there was nobody there to serve it, meaning I had to find and pay for breakfast elsewhere (breakfast is included in the room rate). However, the hotel was very happy to refund me the cost of the breakfast that day, and the breakfast I had there the other days was very good.

The hotel I stayed in sounds a different place to previous reviews! I’ve double checked the address - Dweerstraat 26 - to make sure it’s correct. It obviously used to be a hostel but is now a hotel. We had a shower and toilet in our room and breakfast was included. We had a lovely one night stay as a family of 3 and would definitely stay again. Good things - friendly staff at check in and at breakfast. Location. Seemed like less than 5 minutes walk to everything we wanted to see. Beautiful building on the outside. 3 big windows because we got a room st the front (I think there are probably only 2 of these). Good shower. Amazing breakfast. Melon, granola, yoghurt, orange juice, croissants, lots of spreads (jam, Nutella, biscoff, honey, pâté, cheese), bread rolls, eggs (which you could boil yourself to the desired hardness), bacon, cheese and coffee. Less good things - the toilet was tiny. We’re luckily not tall. I think if you were 6’ you’d need to have the door open to be able to sit down. (From reading previous reviews I wonder if this is because they had to find space to install en-suites). There was some noise from other rooms - hair dryers etc. No parking on site. (This turned out not to be a problem at all as Bruges is so small snd there is a car park across the road, but we had searched for hotels with parking so this took us by surprise on arrival). Fold down bed for child had a big shelf above it (which it folds up into when not in use) which our son kept bumping his head on. We definitely hope to return. And next time we’d like to try the restaurant in the evening.

Hotel Passage -All you get is an uncomfortable bed, with no TV or anything over a loud bar, forget about sleep, because you will get none at all. I had to ask people at AM to quiet down and they refused. PS the kitcken odor is nasty

Stayed here for the weekend for a friends stag do. Upon arrival the instructions were in a safe down the side alley as the hotel didn't open until 2pm but we could ajccess the hotel door and leave our luggage safe while we went for a drink. Later we returned to access our rooms. Basic rooms with comfy beds and 1 sink. There were 2 showers and 1 toilet on our floor, which were clean. The food in the resturant was delicious and the dtaff were friendly. No breakfast available butbthere is a nice little cafe next door. The town and shops are also a dtones throw away.

The hostel is absolute pony. I know it was 2* and a hostel so didnt have high expectations but somehow this managed to really disappoint. If your looking for a prison experience this is the hostel for you! Ill fitted doors and paper thin walls and floors mean that you can hear everything from all other rooms. Unfortunately for us and other guests the floor above was a german stag do. They kept us up til 5am for 2 nights shouting, pumping loud techno music and banging furniture. No staff to complain or handle it. No mosquito nets on the windows. Got bitten alive. Dirty showers & toilet areas. No cleaning or towel changes available. Book somewhere else. This gaff will ruin your stay in beautiful bruges!

Hotel Passage is immensely popular. Actually it’s more popular than that. It buzzes. It’s very loud, got a great atmosphere, as long as you’re not after a quiet romantic meal for two. Carbonnade was fair, but there’s a lot of competition around that recipe. I had dry ribs, which were the best I’ve had outside Tennessee, which is saying something. Too filling for me to have a dessert...this restaurant is so busy, and has such a broad menu, it’s amazing they maintain such high quality. Highly recommended

We stayed here for a night, the location is great - equidistant between the train station and main square. Check in was simple and our room was on the first floor. The room was basic - beds and a sink, a desk nowhere near a power socket and that was it. We dumped our stuff and went out sightseeing. The toilets are on the first floor and shared with the restaurant. This means there are constantly people going up and down the stairs. Wifi was variable- sometimes it was ok, others I gave up and used 4G. Overall the hostel is priced like a cheap hotel but offers no facilities and not even ensuite rooms. I wouldn't go back for the price I paid (€63).
