My wife and I spent one night at this Ghent B&B, It was first class at the price of business class. Quiet, luxurious, 'boutique' style.. Close (5 minutes walk) from the center. Hosts are helpful and friendly. We liked the atmosphere, the decoration, the bathroom with a vintage radio, the breakfast.

We discovered Hôtel Verhaegen in 2007. We have been returning every year since and every year has confirmed our first experience. HV is unique as a location. It certainly is unique interior designwise, as the owners pull out the stops to showcase their core business activity. And it is unique in the way Jan, Marc & Peter host you. A... More

Oke it isn't the cheapest b&b in Gent but mostly the most romantic one! Great rooms and a excellent breakfast wich is served in you room or in the diner from 17th century. You wonder yourself in the past if you stay here. Very vriendly staff wich takes all the time to get you around! They will see us back!

This beautiful, restored private home is decorated beautifully to recapture a bygone era, and offers a truly unique experience in the heart of a lovely, too-little-visited city. You will be treated like a king (or queen) by the perfect couple who run this B&B (with help from another lovely soul.) We literally were welcomed on the street, as we got... More

We were very surprised of reading these negative reviews; when we arrived we had such a lovely welcome in hotel verhaegen. It was personal en we had immediately a nice feeling of being at home “ away from home”. At the same time we were overwhelmed of the beauty of this building, pure 18th century and with the most beautiful... More

We booked the Hotel Verhaegen for the Valentins weekend and explicitely stated, that we would have to book a room in a separat hotel for acompanying friends. After receiving the confirmation of our booking we also booked the other hotel. One day afterwards we received a call from the owner of the Hotel Verhaegen, that our room was not available... More

If you are lucky you've a nice room. We were not lucky. We booked months ago a room for two days but we were not expected. We only could stay for one day in a nice room because a special guest booked also the room the next day. Our room for the second day was terrible. Very, very small, noisy, no... More

We are very sorry the reviewer had such a bad experience, and we would like to try to explain things to apologize. This happened quite a long time ago, and I still feel sorry for it. The receptionist, Tina, was it is true, new in our team. She did a terrible mistake, she showed the guests the wrong room. She... More

Previous reviewers have gloried over the sublime decor of this property, and I can only support those comments. It is indeed a beautiful property. The owners run their interior design business from the hotel, also their home, to the detriment of the hotel. On arrival, a little travel weary, the receptionist seemed unaware that there were guests coming (although only... More

Well there clearly is a misunderstanding. We have chosen to be a Bed a breakfast right from the start. Although we now carefully hide every possible little package, we do live here and work here. You are staying with the locals. We aim to offer our guests a very romantic and most comfortable stay in one of the most beautiful... More

We stayed here for one night in October 07. in the room called "the forties", their best room. The hotel totals 4 rooms. We've slept in many B&B and small fine hotels but nothing can beat this place. It is magnificent, in it's details and atmosphere. You feel like the master of a small castle. The design is very tastefull,... More

I was stunned by the amazing 18th century Hotel Verhaegen and the reception I got on my visit. This is a truly exceptional "guesthouse", right in the heart of the old Ghent. It is top end, not cheap, but worth every penny. The 2 owners are interior decorators. Man , it shows. I sat in their living room ( guests... More
