The Brooderie is downtown - fabulous location. The owner was hospitable and the breakfast was great. Warning! The room was smelly and there was a lot of noise all night long (being right in the centre of Ghent - you can't expect anything but!).

Oh, I already miss my wonderful corner room! at Brooderie! In fact, I am reluctant to tell others about this great find because suppose I come back and it's booked?
I'll take the risk. My first-floor room was not only big and sun-filled, but painted with my favorite colors; deep red-and-mustard-yellow. The above-the-bakery feel, also, created an ambience of warmth...

we stayed here for one night only - luckily. Never again. This place has an excellent location and perhaps one of the best breakfast places in Ghent, but the accomodation was so disappointing. We knew we had a room with shared bathroom but we didn't know we also shared that bathroom with the clientele of the teahouse downstairs. Lots of...

First three negative things, then some positives.
I was travelling for business. Crumpled shirt and crumpled suit. Needed to look smart for conference. I asked for an Iron. They said there was No Iron. Then made promises that Sister would bring in Iron. Next morning Sister had excuses why she didnt bring Iron. Said it was too big to bring...

This is definitely something a bit different. We had Room 1 which was a huge dual aspect room with pleasant street views. Yes you do share the toilets(there are two) with the public when the bakery is open but they are kept very clean as is the shower.
The staff were all incredibly charming and helpful right through form booking...

This was such a great find. I was excited to stay above a Bakery. It was odd checking in, we just walking into a bustling soup and bread joint and told the cashier we were ready to check in. She showed us to the room, and it was VERY large.
We had the green room. Very bright and colorful, VERY...

Just showed up at the counter when the hosts for my original B&B were a no show. They had only 1 room left (their smallest room) but we needed a place to stay so we took it.
Very nice people running the bakery / B&B. Great breakfast (closed on Monday, so we had to find our own that day)
Bed...

We had originally booked the Ibis Centrum Opera to stay in for a one-
night stay in Ghent in late-April 2008. We always prefer staying in locally-run establishments and hate chain hotels, but a combination of late booking and a strange insistence in Ghent B&Bs for booking two nights at weekends meant we ended up booking the Ibis.
Then, just...

I walked into the Brooderie and loved the smallness, the family atmosphere, and the wonderful bread. With the exchange rate of the Euro, I really enjoyed the price as well. I stayed above the restaurant in a very spacious room. The breakfast was fantastic in the home style way. It was incredibly convenient to the downtown. I have since taken...

The Brooderie is a café/restaurant and breadshop, plus on the 1st and 2nd floor are bed &breakfast rooms. Price for a double room, including breakfast in march 2005 = 65 euro. Monday closed, then price for room without breakfast = 56 euro.
The location is excellent, the breakfast is OK. Guests share the toilets with the public of the cafe...
