Forgot to review last year but I have to do it now. We spent 3 days in August 2011 its a very nice location (garden room), in front of the IJ channel and the only one wind mills of Amsterdam. BUT we spent there less days than planned because the room was not cleaned (confirmed also by owner, a very... More

After reading more than a few favorable reviews of BB IJ (including one that mentioned a well-stocked pantry), I sent an email to the owner (Tina) to confirm that there was availability for the Garden Suite from January 1st (New Year's Day) to January 4, 2012. I sent the deposit and our arrival information as requested. BB IJ was to... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Cottage Room in September of 2011 and honestly, we wouldn't recommend staying there. First of all, it's located in the basement; that isn't mentioned on the BB IJ website, and in our opinion it should be, in order to give clients transparent and fair information. Indeed, if we had known it was on... More

The cottage room is a impossible place for someone who has allergic problems, because it stays in a place with no window and no air conditioning. It smells like dust and mold. And I told them in advance that i had allergic problems and asked about curtains and rugs but had no answer, so i assumed it was ok, but... More

The pictures on the website didn't do the b&b justice. We were so excited when we saw the apartment. It was charming and clean and had a delicious view of the garden, canal and windmill from the glassed-in terrace. Had all the amenities we needed to enjoy our stay, including kitchen, stocked refrigerator, and laundry. Access to the tram right... More

My family had a 2 week holiday in The Netherlands and used B&B IJ as a base for exploring the country. The room was lovely. Best parts about the stay: the room and kitchenette were well equipped, spacious, in a great location with easy access to multiple forms of transit, had a beautiful backyard with canal views, and owners were... My boyfriend and I stayed at BB IJ for 4 nights in the middle of May in the cottage room and we really loved our time. The room was adequate size (we had 2 large suitcases and a back pack) and we really appreciated the fridge and coffee maker right in the room. As far as location goes, it was... More

Cosy BnB with large ensuite bathroom, fully equipped kitchenette and a little garden right at the canal. Urban retreat near Amsterdam's famous International Institute for Social History. Lovely and helpful hosts, shop and restaurants nearby, 20 min with bus/tram to Amsterdam center. To be recommended.

The hosts go out of their way to make sure one is is well informed to get around the city and welcomed in their premises. The flowers and the canal make it a truly Amsterdam experience. Great bathroom. Only difficulty was that we had not noticed the one night /stay surcharge on the webpage - so value was not the... More

Arrived at BBIJ earlier than the usual check in time and were delighted to catch Tina truly vacuuming the entire room as we've requested for my husband to prevent an asthma attack. That is very considerate and hospitable considering we only stayed for 1 night. The cottage room is small in size but I'd rather call it cute as it... More
