Charming hotel. Easy enough to find. The lift can only accommodate 1 person with luggage, but then that's nothing new in europe :) But you can't use the lift after 11pm. The stairs are the spiral type, so if you come in drunk one late night, be very careful going up (or down) those stairs! We had the Rembrant room.... More

This hotel is really gem. It’s a pleasant to stay, close to Centraal Station and to many interesting places in Amsterdam, spacious room etc. From Centraal Station, just take any trams that go south (1, 2, 5, 13, 17) and get off at first stop (Niewezijdskolk). Walk through small alley, and walk 2 blocks (only 30-40 m.), Hotel Brouwer is... More

We have been to Amsterdam several times on business and as tourists always staying in up market places. This time we thought we should try an historic canal house. The Brouwer is just that, but in the end it was not a very good choice. Very good location, close to the rail station, sights and good eating places, and with... More

We spent 2 nights in the Mondrian room on the top floor. It has a lovely view of the Singel Canal, but the street noise can be a bit bothersome. We travel with a sound machine which helped mask the noise. The steps are steep and windy, but we used the tiny elevator to get our luggage up. The owner... More

Very cool find. Very good price. Owners took dollars using their calculator to figure up. They needed dollars for their upcoming trip along our Route 66. We had a generous corner room. The elevator was the smallest we had seen, but felt safe. Area was charming. A nice restaurant or two to the immediate South. A nautical beer bar to... More

This is a 1600's canal house, with sloping floors, retro-fitted bathrooms and an erratic elevator but we love it. This type of place is not for everyone, but it is clean, convenient, atmospheric and has wonderful views of the canals. There are 9 rooms and they are generally booked well in advance. Free WiFi is available, but it does not... More

The location is good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. It was quiet at night. The breakfast was an odd combination of stuff but we liked it. Good quality bread and cheese -- delicious. We were on the "third floor" but that was equivalent to the sixth floor in the USA - - at least... More

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, I think I set my hopes too high for this place. I've stayed in better budget hotels in Amsterdam than Hotel Brouwer. While I can imagine the challenges of maintaining a historic structure (while still managing to run a successful business), it felt much more neglected than I anticipated for a budget accommodation. The... More

We stayed at the Brouwer for one night and overall had a good stay. This hotel is very close to Amsterdam Centraal, the Jordan neighborhood and red light district. This area can get very noisy but we didnt hear it from our room. The room, called Breitner, had a lovely canal view. It was also very clean. I did not... More

The location can not be beat. The room was spacious and clean. We had awesome views over looking the canals. The access to the quiet Jordaan neighborhood and to the busy Damrak and red light district was perfect. The breakfast was a treat and filled us up. Everything was great. The hotel was about a 10 min walk from the... More
