Lovely family-owned hotel. Well situated close to centre but not amongst the bustle. Our bedroom looks out to the Matterhorn, surely the most spectacular mountain view in Europe. Hotel very tasteful and a lot of trouble has been taken over the details. Steps up to hotel but everything in Zermatt is up.

It's uncommon to find most reviewers appear to agree that this is a lovely little hotel/B&B. Maybe that's because it offers good, reliable service and is very clean and comfortable. So I'm not going to repeat all the praise given by everyone else, but will just highlight a few things. My first reason to book this hotel was because of... More

From the moment we arrived at the hotel welschen we were made to feel at home. The hotel is 3 star but in my opinion should be awarded 4 stars. The service given is among some of the best I have experienced. The hotel has a home feel to it and has plenty of character with some quirky edges to... More

My wife and I recently visited Zermatt and stayed at the Hotel Welschen. While Switzerland is expensive, we found this place to be a great value. The staff were very friendly. The hotel's location is close to the main train station with a shutttle service to and from the Hotel. The Sunnega Cable car access is located right next to... More

We booked this hotel because it had one of the cheaper rooms with a view. They shows us to our room (#1) and it was amazing! Clean, quaint, all the things you need. This is not a posh place, but it has tremendous character. The distance from the city is about a 5 minute walk. I am writing this post... More

Fine hotel on an edge of Zermatt. Atmosphere is Swiss; thus a lot of wood... Polite staff. And the advantage of the hotel is that some room have a clear view on the Matterhorn. Fabulous! When conidering this hotel, book one of those rooms. Makes the stay unforgettable.

A lovely small hotel in the quieter location of Zermatt but still close to the amenities. The hotel is efficiently managed by the owner, his wife and the pleasant assistant. We enjoyed a Matterhorn view room with balcony, superb! Nothing better than to lie in bed and view the Matterhorn. The room including the bathroom was immaculate. Breakfast were served... More

We stayed here in July 2012 for two nights. When we found the hotel, a short walk from the train station, we were kind of daunted by taking out bags up the slope to the hotel. However, as we pondered this the owner appeared and took one of our bags up for us. These were not light bags since we'd... More

just had a long weekend here and am not sure I can add much to the high rating reviews. It's classed as a 3 star hotel but please don't confuse that with the same classification in the UK. This place is cleaner than your own home! The bathrooms are finished off immaculately. The beds are perfect and apparently they regularly... More

Nice place on side of hill. Great location, picturesque setting. Comfortable room, though not appropriate for children to share as the optional short curtain covering the transparent glass partition to the bathroom leaves a nice view at about waist-level. Smaller portions of a variety of items at breakfast. Lovely presentation--just don't expect to eat lots. Have to be able to... More
