Well priced (for swiss stds) & within walking distance of the center of Lugano Parking in Lugano is not easy ant this hotel has no parking area so you have to find a place on a street nearby. The room was nice, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was tiny but clean and adequate. Breakfast is varied and nice. There is... More

I have to admit I'm a little torn about this hotel. It could be rated higher but there are some quirks that keep it rated a little low. The biggest quirk is the receptionist whonI think is the owner. To say she is a little cool to the clientele is an understatement. She showed little or no interest in the... More

The WORST hotel we've ever stayed. Breakfasts were awfull - one sort of cheese (in Switzerland), meat and salami, without any vegetables in sommer, one sort of muesli that looks very strange, tasteless croassants and only for those who wake up early. Tiny room that need to be renovated, DOWNY blankets in sommer, very old and that's why loud air... More

If it weren't necessary to deal with the wife of this establishment who runs the show, I wouldn't be writing. The location is okay, the husband's contemporary art collection in the common grounds is stunning. The pool, terraces and grounds are nice, but the rooms and baths are tiny...even by European standards. Unfortunately the hostess was curt, extremely unhelpful and... More

My husband and I spent only one night here, but would gladly have stayed longer. We arrived without a reservation, having deserted a not-very-nice apartment rental on Lake Como. We were welcomed at the Stella, which we had found through an old copy of Rick Steves' Switzerland. It was very hot and a dip in the small pool was bracing... More

It's a cute place with art work and a lovely small garden area where the breakfast room is. There is a flight of stairs to get to reception - not a big deal but I'm glad I was placed on the ground floor. The room was nice, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was tiny but clean and adequate. Breakfast is... More

We stayed at the Hotel Stella for three nights during Lugano's Festa d 'autonno. The hotel is convenient to the train, 5-7 minute walk to the station. The hotel sits on a quiet street across from office buildings. Just walk to the station and take the furnicular to the city center. The room was a good size and the beds... More

I stayed for a week on a business trip, and was quite satisfied for my own purposes although some with special needs would find it a bit challenging. Not luxurious, some flaws, but good for the price. It was hot (94 F when I arrived) in Lugano and the room on the 3rd floor, no elevator, had an individual air... More

There's a bit of a walk to the hotel from the train station, so if you have a lot of luggage it may be a problem. The room is small, dark, and old. The bed is horrible - we could hardly sleep at all. It's one of the softest mattresses I've ever slept on. People at the reception are nice... More
