4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2013 NEW

The hotel was right by the ponte vecchio bridge and easy walking distance to all attractions. FYI, our favorite place we visited was St Croce's church which is not as crowded (michealangelo's and galeleo's tombs are there). The hotel staff was very helpful. The hotel is on the fourth floor so it's not a good choice for people who mind... More

Absolutely right. We are always very clear about that - not for anyone who is not good with stairs, or those perhaps with too many young children (and hence extra buggies and bags). We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to look forward to seeing you again. More

I feel really bad about having to leave this review but unfortunately my experience of Hotel Alessandra did not live up to its reviews. Firstly, be warned, the garage inferno is extremely hard to find with road closures around florence and one way streets that are really TINY, this was not an issue for us but it may be for... More

Absolutely right about the car. Driving in Florence is hard for Florentines (they are not terrified like foreigners are, but still get very frustrated). Either don't bring one (you don't need it) or park and forget about for the duration of your stay! Fabulous that you enjoyed your stay. More

This place is wonderfully located near the Arno River and all of the sights of Florence are within walking distance (as is the train and bus, which is ideal for day trips outside the city). The rooms are clean and it was certainly more spacious than many European hotels. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful in making reservations for... More

We found this hotel as a last minute savior from a hotel with flooded rooms in another section of Florence and we totally lucked out. We had mistakenly booked a room with a separate bath, and the only room with a full bath was 20 euro more a night. We decided to take it. When they showed us to the... More

We are sad for our colleagues that got flooded, but it was lucky for us and you! Sorry we couldn't accommodate you for the second night - perhaps if you ever return you can stay here "properly". Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. More

The location is ideal for walking around Florence! Just please do not try to drive there! (the hotel is located in a large central area that is a pedestrian way and thus driving, parking, etc is quite difficult; definitely try to drop off your rental car before coming to the hotel but if you are not able then the staff... My boyfriend and I were visiting Rome and went up to Florence for a one day/overnight trip. Based on other reviews, we decided this two star hotel would be just what we needed for a simple night. It turned out to be that plus so so much more. We were greeted by the MOST FRIENDLY man, although I never got... More

Aw shucks! We love your review and are most grateful - but we are two star. Really two star! Our rooms and bathrooms are two star. Our stairs and lift are two star. Our breakfast is two star. Our service is 22 star! Did we really say that?! Ooops - apparently so. More

We recently spent 4 nights at this charming family-owned hotel. Breakfast every morning served in a lovely dinning room. Expresso, cappacino or american coffee among other delicious breakfast items. Our suite was comfortable, and roomy. Very clean hotel. Location was excellent: near Ponte Vechio, Uffizi, Pitti Palace, etc. All within walking distance. The staff were more than helpful and very... Based on other reviews, i booked this hotel for my niece and i for a 3 day visit and i was not disappointed. The hotel is in a great location for all the sightseeing of Florence you want to do. Hotel Alessandra is located almost right in the middle of town, good walking distance to every major attractions, shopping districts and restaurants. The staff were the highlight of the hotel, very professional whilst still having a good laugh along the way. The first night I didn't sleep well due to mosquitoes in the room. Yes, Florence, and Italy in general does suffer mozzies in the summer, even in the cities. But of course we will help out anyone who is under fire! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay - and your toast! More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) but please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
