During my stay in this hotel, one major problem was a pub at the back of the hotel making loud noise late at night, sometimes there is also loud music way after midnight. Not all the hotel rooms are facing this direction, but if you end up in one of this rooms, you won't get much sleep. In fact, in... More

Beautiful views from our room over the water from the balcony. Breakfast on the terrace was amazing, we sat up there for a couple of hours admiring the 360 views of the old town and Etna in the distance. Fresh food and lovely pastries for breakfast, staff very attentive. The restaurant food is amazing but expensive, we found a deal... More

This beautiful hotel has the elegance and style of the Grand Hotels of Europe. Overlooking the bay the stunning rooftop terrace and restaurant has a 180 degree panorama of the mediterranean and historic rooftops of Syracuse. The reception staff are helpful and courteous, speaking English, and we were offered a very reasonable rate for a 3-day stay in early Spring.... More

We stayed at the Des Etrangers only for one night during our tour in Sicily. The hotel is definitely Grand, on the city walls of Ortigia, overlooking the sea. When you enter the hotel you feel the past glories of the place. Reception were friendly as well as bell boys. They indicated us a convenient car park at 1 km.... More

Breakfast room on the roof gives splendid views across the bay. One of the best starts to the day I can imagine. As is typical in good Italian hotels, staff are immaculate but not as fast or as attentive as you might expect. Relax, get used to it and it is fine. Location is excellent assuming that you were not... More

This hotel deserves every cent. Located seaside Ortygia, it offers a very luxurious stay. The only problem is that it may be a bit difficult to find, because the road sign says "Passeggio Arethussa" instead of "Passegio Adorno". But the staff is very friendly, the rooms are barocque, and there is always this scent around that is very fresh and... More

Located in Syracusa Ortigia this site is extraordinary This hotel is among the most prestigious and usually quite costly but we got a reasonable price in December so decided for this special treat. Very well located (except for the inconveniences of parking) the hotel is very Liberty style rooms excellent and the breakfast on the roof top garden is very... More

We arrived at 8:30pm, in the pouring rain, with no reservation. It was my birthday. We had had a long day touring and been through bad traffic so were late getting to Siracusa. My husband sent me in to beg for a room. I was tired and wet and must have looked a fright. I mentioned to the receptionist it... More

I stayed during a recent trip and had a very positive experience. It is right off the Piazza Duomo and in easy walking distance to a number of restaurants and shopping. My room faced the water and a majestic cluster of palm trees. It's directly across from Fonte Aretusa with the giant papyrus cluster in the center. My room was... More

The location is picture perfect. On Ortygia Island, across thje street from the water and from a lovely park and the ancient Fountain of Arethusa. The staff never seemed to want to engage with guests, whether to handle problems with the room, restaurant reservations or where to find various services within Siracusa. On our last day, they directed us to... More
