We stayed for a week at the Politi and had a memorable time there. The room had all the features we expected with a lovely bathroom, good airconditioning, minibar, safe, balcony and really comfortable beds. As we had a car the big car park was a bonus. It felt like we were walking through history when climbing the magnificent curved... More

The staff were overall friendly. No excursions arranged. The hotel is badly located. There is absolutely nothing to do or see in the area. The locality is very dirty. People very unfriendly. Very disappointing. I would not recommend it as a area to visit

An elegant 150 year old beauty with character and charm. Truly exciting mixture of past and present. Interesting details for antique lovers.Beautiful garden and nice pool area. Excellent service. The breakfast buffet is so grand that it is worth of six stars!

Stayed in grand villa politi from 21st to 28th April 2013. Old elegant hotel in need of some updating with great buffet breakfast. Rooms cleaned every day. Great swimming pool with private garden and showers. Most staff had little or no English with no knowledge of tourist attractions or bus times. Most buses had very irregular service, if we were... SYRACUSE is NOT NEW YORK: OFTEN THE DISTANCE BETWEEN A CITY 'AND ANOTHER VILLAGE ARE DIFFICULT TO ACHIEVE. But this is also the charm of Sicily. there is a considerable difference between the old and decadent. The costs of services are the same as any other city. The staff of the ghvp speaks good English and French, we are sorry... More

Stayed at the Grand Villa Politi in Syracussa first week in April 2013 highlight was the weather, locals thought it was still spring but 20- 24 degrees absolutely lovely, you will need a car to get around but everywhere is reasonably easy to get to. The hotel is one of the areas oldest, full of quaint corridors and old fashioned... More

First trip to Sicily, 6 days in August and loved it! August is a very hot time to get and busy with Italians holidaying, found this hotel, good price for all in hotel and flights. It was probably very grand in its day, Winston Churchill stayed there, elements of that era very nice, let down was restaurant very austere and... More

This is a grand hotel in the old style providing a wonderful service throughout. We had a superior room - well worth the little extra - the hotel was spotlessly clean throughout - great breakfast table and very good value three course evening meal for 25 Euro pp. which was very good. Wonderful gardens and patios and a very good... More

The only reason we chose this hotel was for the use of the pool. The pool was lovely and empty and we enjoyed lazing by it in the afternoons. The rest of the hotel was awful. The hotel is not near anything of interest so is either a long horrible walk in to ortigia or a 10 euro taxi ride.... More

A grand old hotel slightly neglected with an impressive pool. The room, food and service were ok. The free pre-dinner cocktails were a nice touch. Our only minor complaint is that the wifi only works in the lounge area near reception. Would stay again.

A most comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable time. The room was fine (we paid a little bit extra for a 'superior' room), looking out over the old quarries, now a 'romantic' garden, with the sea visible beyond. Service was always excellent, with the staff courteous and most helpful. A good buffet breakfast with plenty of choice. An excellent swimming pool to... More
