First of all, there's no sign indicating that this is the place. My Google map told me that it is one or two buildings from Hotel Belle Arti, lack of any external visible sign made it impossible to locate it. It was drizzling when I got off the boat and it made it that much more problematic. Finally, on the... More

I visited Venice in May 2012 with a close girlfriend and we booked Domus Cavanis for two nights. We found the hotel to be perfect for what we needed. The price just can't be beaten - all hotels in Venice are quite expensive but Domus Cavanis was very reasonable and as long as you don't expect it to be more... More

Toilet had a huge whole in it, had to reach into tank to flush. BLOOD on walls, shower was filled with mold, staff was the rudest I ever encountered. They were very mad at us when we checked in because we came around 11pm which must have been past the man's bedtime. When we complained about the room issues all... More

We were on a budget but wanted to have the experience of living in Venice close to canals and within walking distance of St Mark's Square. After a lot of research I found this hotel...so glad I did! All we wanted were quiet comfortable clean warm rooms (we came in February) with plenty of hot water and a good shower...and... More

We have booked and paid a non-refundable double room at Domus Cavanis via AGODA. But since it was a high season (between Christmas and New Year time), the Domus Cavanis Hotel* must have been overbooked, so we got a room in its sister hotel, at Hotel Belle Arti*** without any extra payment or charge. (Please note when you book a... More

Domus Cavanis it's a normal place, nothing special but it's OK. It has everything you need: perfect location, cleanliness, good heating, hot water, nice breakfast, silence (if you don't have too noisy neighbours). But nothing more, for example you have to make the check-in and breakfast in an other hotel, near the place, in Domus Cavanis you can't find any... More

This is without doubt the worst hotel I have ever encountered. It quickly becomes evident in Venice that securing return customers is low on the list of priorities. The 5 or 6 receptionists encountered at this hotel were nothing short of rude. They did their very best not to speak to me at all, and when pressed for information would... More

If you want to spend about $200 American dollars (which is cheap in Venice.. so I now know) and don't mind a teeny-tiny bathroom/shower... the flattest pillows I have ever seen and no air conditioning, the location is terrific. I will admit that the only reason I booked here is because all the other reasonably priced (less than $300) per... More

I would highly, highly recommend Domus Cavanis for anyone looking for budget yet comfortable accommodations in Venice. It is a 1-star 'pensione', but it's facilities and amenities might as well be 3-star. The lobby, breakfast (delicious and with unlimited espressos, yum!) and rest area are actually at another (3-star) hotel, the Belle Arti--which is 10 steps in front of Domus... More

the hotel is one of the most pathetic ones I have come across. we booked a quadruple room with clear instructions on 4 beds not bunks yet they gave us child sized bunk beds. Husband and myself travlling with our 60+ aged parents and it was a nightmare. This hotel single handedly ruined mine and my parents experience of venice.... More
