The Hotel Caneva is just a few minutes from the Rialto Bridge. We had a room with a canal view and spent time each day fascinated, watching the activity on the canal from gondolas to refuse collection. The hotel was spotless and a very good price for its location. The forfeit being no en suite rooms. For a 3 night... More

Quite close to the Rialto bridge, therefore placing it amongst the most findable lodgings in Venice. My room offered a view onto one of the smaller canals. One significant negative is the apparent lack of sound-proofing in the walls, so what with boat engines rumbling, gondoliers bellowing, relaxing during the day is impossible and a lie-in is out of the... The only thing I did not like were the matresses as they were really soft/flabby (?), the opposite of firm/hard. The view to the canal is spectacular, but even if I do not mind, the hotel is noisy due to the boats (motors), gondolas and turists. I would stay here again (budget place-75 € in cash, Carnival period).

Me and my daughter (ages 50+ and 20) stayed at this Hotel and loved it! Lets face it - you are in VENICE! and if you are after budget accommodation thats what you get! So dont complain. It is very basic - sure it needs alot of TLC but I dont like paying extra for 'lovely furniture'. As long as... More

Our room had a balcony overlooking a small canal. Perfect. Its a small budget hotel in Venice, dont expect the ritzcarlton. But for the price I dont think it can be beat. I dont know what problems people had with the owner, I thought he was very efficient and nice enough in taking care of us. Breakfast was nice: cereal,... More

My friend and I booked this hotel and received a confirmation from the owner Cagnato Massimo in March 25/11. When we arrived in mid- July, he told us he gave our room away. He was very nasty and rude and blamed us for the problem. He said he sent us another e-mail in July asking for additional credit card information... More

My partner and I stayed in Hotel Caneva for two nights as it was the only hotel we could find in Venice that was (just about) in our price range and didn't have to share a room. Upon arrival we were 'greeted' by a member of staff (probably the rude one everyone mentions; there was a different member of staff... More

The owner, Massimo, is sneaky and a rude person. We didn't feel comfortable at all. They also put a hold on our credit card for a month. Place is well located but they only care for the money not the clients. If you still decide to go just be prevented.

Great little hotel for the money. Unique, querky, slightly old-fashioned, and utterly in keeping with the whole "decaying renaissance grandeur" that is Venice! Despite being at the height of the season, it was peaceful. Our room over-looked the quiet little canal which - to our surprise - was on the "gondola route" so we had fun and a birds-eye view,...
