My husband and I stayed here for 1 night on the spur of the moment -- a day trip that turned into an overnight. The location is perfect for people-watching - steps away from the bustling piazza. The room was a comfortable size, not too tiny, and a very good value. We ate dinner in the piazza that night and... More

This small hotel, overlooking Piazza Volta, is in the heart of Como and just a short walk from the Lake. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms beautifully clean, and the breakfast excellent. The dining room staff were, in particular, efficient, friendly and patient. The only problem could be that, in Summer, Como is very popular with tourists,... More

This hotel was a huge disappointment. It's in a great location in the heart of Como, and looks out onto a cute little plaza. However, I have never slept on such a horrible bed in my life. Honestly, sleeping on the floor would have been more comfortable. Fire alarm went off at 5am (there was no fire). The hotel over... More

Four of us stayed two nights at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. As the hotel is situated one street back from the main road it is very quiet. The rooms are small but are clean and the linen and towels are of good quality. The breakfast which is included in the price is good. It... More

This hotel is very centrally located, about 3 minutes walk from the lake. Outside the hotel are numerous restaurants in the Piazza. The proprietor and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. All the rooms are smallish, but very functional and adequate. Breakfast is good by comparrison to other Italian hotels.

I stayed here one night after two nights at the Hotel Barchetta Excelsior. The room was at the back of the property and was so lovely and peaceful. comfortable bed, excellent air conditioning as it was really hot that day. Everything worked well in the bathroom. It is not where you'd want to spend a honeymoon, but everything was clean... More

A small, friendly hotel in the centre of Como. Overlooking the piazza with 5 cafes just outside the entrance. Continental breakfast was incuded in the price. Surprisingly quiet given the location. Within walking distance of all tourist attractions, ferries and restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms small but comfortable. Excellent value for money.

My family stayed here in October - my parents in a standard room, my sister and I in the superior. For those of you who prefer a little more room, pay that slight bit extra for the superior room. Was well worth the money. Room was big, space to walk around (unlike some hotels in Italy), had a mini bar... More

We stayed here on a hot Oct night. The air conditioning was only working on HOT cycle. Seems it was centrally controlled. We were told it was "law" to have the air con on heat rather than cool. Sounds like rubbish to me. We ended up having to leave the windows open (getting all the street noise) and and the... More

Stayed early Oct 2010. Disappointed that air conditioning had been centrally disabled by the hotel. This wad despite the hotel advertising that room had air conditioning & despite the temperature in mid 20's (Celsius). Hotel staff said aircon is turned off from mid Sept. The lack of aircon meant windows had to be left open & lots of NOISE came... More
