Located a block from downtown, it is close to everything. Rooms vary widely in size, but we had room 410 which was large with a balcony (good for smokers since the hotel is non-smoking), although the bath was small. Breakfast buffet was adequate, wifi was spotty at best, but the staff were friendly and helpful.

As a base for hiking Cinque Terre, Santa Margherita de Ligure was an ideal choice, being both very conveniently accessible and just enough out of the tourist fray to retain charm and affordability. We stayed at this hotel for 6 days as a based for exploring the Cinque Terre, Portofino and surrounding area. The hotel personnel were very helpful, especially Paola who helped us find a room with a stronger wifi signal.
