We only stayed here one night -the people were friendly, the hotel was close-ish to town, but nothing spectacular. I would recommend for a night or two, for a no-frills, not-amazing but not-terrible stay.
Hotel Giardinetto is a must for me everytime I come to Bologna. Not really close to rail station, but has a bus stop right in front. It is marked as two star, but its rooms have been refurbished really well and have the comfort of a superior quality hotel. Breakfast is so-and-so and sometimes the cleaning service in the rooms...

If you are staying in Bologna this Hotel is a short taxi ride from the train station (where the airport bus drops off) approx: 8-10 Euro.
Good bathrooms including a small washing line which I found very useful.
Excellent multi lingual staff at reception - V friendly
40 - 60 Euro a night with internet deals giving good bargins.
