European hotels are clearly rated on a different star system. We used TripAdvisor to see the comments regarding this hotel prior to our trip and we held our breaths regarding what to expect. The comments did not disappoint! (Trust me I've been to developing countries and their hotels were better than this one and I am not a fussy traveller.)... More

my husband and I stayed here in june 2011 for 3 nights. the room was not fancy but it was clean, and for me this is the most important. we chose the hotel because it was a good point to start visiting most tourist attractions in Rome. the breakfast wasn't to vary, the croissants weren't fresh every morning but we... My husband and I stayed at Hotel Giotto in December. Don't think that because it's "near the Vatican" that it's close to most things in Rome. It's the last stop off the subway line, and then there's a 15 minute walk (if you're young and fit) up a hill to get there. It wasn't terrible, but I can easily imagine... More

This hotel was booked for us by an online travel agent as part of a 3 city tour of Italy. The hotel in Venise was good, the one in Florence was ok but borderline, this one was disgusting. So much so that my mother and I checked in and then checked out within 10 minutes - no joke. We walked... More

After reading the bad reviews about the hotel we were in trepidation. What a pleasant surprise. The room was basic yes and a little dated with age showing around the bathroom mirror, but spotlessly clean with crisp white sheets and towels which were changed every day.We asked a maid for extra pillows and they were there straight away. Our room... More

This was possibly one of the worse hotels I stayed at. I was unfortunate enough to have to spend five nights here with my husband who struggled to get any sleep. The walls were wafer thin and very noisy, we could hear everything going on in the corridors and rooms next to us. The breakfast was so terrible that I... More

We just got back from Rome yestrerday. The hotel is very clean and nice. The people writing bad comments on here are people who most properly spend all their time in a hotel room. If you are someone who always stays in 4 to 5 star hotels then it is not rocket science that this is going to be a... More

Staff not very friendly! Rooms clean but could do with updating. Breakfast very basic, couldnt even get a hot cuppa tea! Was told the hotel is near to Vatican - this was not the case - 20 minute walk to metro and then another 20 to 30 mins on the metro to reach the citry! Hotel obviously used for lots... More
