With Hotel Europa, the location was so good that we didn't spend any waking time in the rooms - at all. We hung out in the square (Puerto del Sol) or walked all over the city. The locals don't start eating u til about 9 pm and then have 3 or 4 hours of tapas. Shops are open late too... More

I stayed here after reading a recommendation in the Rick Steves travel book and I wasn't disappointed. It's in a fantastic location right on Puerta del Sol. Our window opened onto Calle del Carmen, but we could still see the bustling square below. There is a metro station right on the square but you can walk to most places of... More

We stayed in Hotel Europa for 2 nights in April. It was overlooking Plaza Mayor. If you are on the upper floors it isnt too noisy and you can open your window and look at the Square. The staff were so helpful and spoke excellent English. There is a restaurant right next door which was reasonably priced. We ate breakfast... More

My fiancee and I stayed here twice on the same trip with a stay in Barcelona wedged between our stays. We arrived early, 9am on a Friday, and our room was already available. To start, there are TONS of attractions within a 20 min or less walking distance. If its not within waking distance, tickets for the Madrid city tour... More

I can't believe that there's a hotel with a better location than Hotel Europa. Located right on Puerta del Sol, everything you need is just footsteps away. There is a subway station in the square, but you can walk to every main attraction. There's free internet in the lobby as well as free wi-fi. The staff are also friendly and... More

I have stayed here many times over many years, but probably won't stay here again. They have remodeled in recent years, and I actually liked the older version better. It is in a great location, and rooms are modern and clean. There are a couple computers in the lobby guests can use for free internet and they had free wireless.... More

This is the hotel to book if you want a centrally located hotel where you can almost walk to every main sight in Madrid. Located right on Madrid's main square, the Puerta del Sol, you'll find the convenience of the metro, food, shopping, entertainment and access to tours. As the hotel is located on one of the pedestrian roads leading... More

Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and centrally located, this is a good choice for a stay in Madrid. We had a room overlooking the plaza, and it was fun to watch the energy of the place gain momentum...political protests, mariache bands, street performers, lovers, tourists... A wonderful experience. However, we hardly slept because of the noise. The party contined unil 4am.... More

You can't ask for more central than this. Easy to reach via subway from the airport or train station and most tourist attractions can be walked to. Plenty of places to eat and drink as well very close by. One downside is that there are many people in the area so the noise outside will continue until late at night.... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and had a room overlooking the square. Yes we knew it would be noisy but it was worth it for the view. Pull a chair onto the balcony and watch the all the activity below. We were there whilst the demonstrations were taking place in the square, thousands of people chanting and cheering but the... More
