Moderate place to sleep, the rooms are from some decades ago. Good location for shopping and metro. No suprises.
As with many hotels, this one is a question of understanding how much you've paid and what that entitles you to.
The good:
# Fabulous location, 30 metres from Gran Via and 5 minutes walk from the Real Palace, Plaza Mayor etc.
# Large, clean room (although 2 twins pushed together rather than the requested double
# Large bathroom with...

Interiors a bit shabby
Front desk very helpful (had a difficulty explaining them about lunch basket though - you should say "picnic" :)
The shower lever was broken - scalding hot water - but they fixed it quickly enough
The nearby stripbar is not really THAT noisy (anyway it sinks in the general nightly noise of Gran Via cars :)...

My wife and I have just enjoyed a short break in Madrid, where this hotel is ideally positioned as a base from which to explore the city. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast offers the usual range found in continental Europe and is available from first thing to late morning. The decor is traditional, giving the place a...

This hotel is centrally located within walking distance of many city attractions, and 1 block from Metro so you can easily get anywhere. But what separates it from the other downtown hotels is that it is one block away from the Gran Via, on a quiet side street, which makes it a quiet island within the city. And by European...

We stayed here over the Easter weekend for four nights and had a lovely time. The decor was a little dated and tired but the room was fine and clean. Unfortunately the walls are pretty thin so we could hear the girls in the next room speak and hear their mobile phone ring.
The buffet breakfast was fairly good. The...

My friend and I stayed here in mid-March for 3 nights on an easyjet city break. The hotel was lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly, our room was clean and attractively decorated. The room was facing the inner courtyard and there was a little noise from the AC units outside, but to be honest, we were so exhausted...

We stayed here a while back and loved it.
We were originally booked into a double room but were given a twin by mistake which was quickly rectified without fuss.
Breakfast had a very good choice, really set us up for the day.
There was a strange smell in the bathroom (not from us I hasten to add) but to...

I spent four nights at this hotel in October.
The location of the hotel, on the Grand Via, was excellent.
The continental breakfast was quite good. The food selection was at or above the level of quality I'd expect from a hotel with this star rating.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay centrally in...

The staff at this hotel really can't do enough for you, but at the end of the day, this is an old hotel in an old building, which suffers from not being able to change its basic construction and set-up.
We were unsure about using this hotel due to the bad reviews we had seen, but decided to give them...
