Good value for money. I stayed in a single room and it was very comfortable. It is close to the cathedral and a very easy walk to the bus stop to the airport. They offer a very nice breakfast and gently offered more juice or food. The owners are lovely, very helpful and they keep everything clean. The only issue... More

While traveling all over Europe, this was one of the best places we've stayed in. It's really worth the money! A lovely, cute and cozy room with all the luxuries needed (great soft towels!! And the rooms at the back have a great view of the cathedral), a wonderful breakfast (free range eggs, fresh bread, great coffee) and exceptional service... More

We stayed here for 7nights in room #201. The room was furnished with stylish and comfy antic pieces and despite its relatively small size (11,5 m2) we had everything we needed. Beside the double bed and a desk with a chair, the family - the owners - transformed the old fireplace into a small museum of antic lamps. The wash... More

I stopped in Santiago as part of a 14 day motorbike tour from England to Jerez passing through Cantabria, Galicia and Portugal. I can honestly say this was the best place I stayed during the trip, for a few reasons: 1) the girls running the place are amazing, very friendly (but not intrusive) and always willing to help, they recommended... I stayed in hostel alfonso for 2 nights.it is centrally located. With this comes a little traffic noise. It is family run and they take time with their guests. It is spotlessly clean. there are lovely touches such as fresh flowers in reception. Well worth a visit

The owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The bedrooms are small, but stylishly furnished, and spotlessly clean. Bear in mind you don't spend much time in the room anyway. Tasteful ornaments can be seen throughout the building, and there was always a lovely perfumed smell everywhere. Breakfast is mainly continental - croissants, cakes, toast,... More

Having chosen Hostal Alfonso from previous reviews, we were not disappointed ! We had wished for something really nice and homely yet not too pricey after completing our Way of Saint-James and we found it. The room was really, really beautiful, with a splendid view of the Cathedral. After our way, it was a real treat ! Location was perfect:... More

This very quaint and charming home-turned-hostel is located 3 minutes walk from the Cathedral, shops and restaurants. Across the road is a fantastic park widely used by joggers or those out for a leisurely stroll alike. Our whimsically decorated bedroom located at the back of this old house had a perfect view of the cathedral. The private washroom was quite... More

Hostal Alfonso is just a block down from the main walking street in Santiago where the best bars and restaurants are located. It's far enough away though that there was no noise. Our room faced downtown and we actually had a pretty decent view of the cathedral. The room itself was a bit small but good value for what we... More

I would recommend this family run hotel to couples. Our room was kept spotlessly clean on a daily basis. Our breakfast , between 9 and 11am, consisted of fresh bread, toasted bread, pastries, jam, ham, tea or coffee. Once I made it known I am a coeliac, gluten free bread and cheese was provided for me on the second morning.... More
