I got the name of Casa-Hotel As Artes out of the Spain Lonely Planet guidebook, where it was given an "our pick" recommendation. We had an attractive room (Pablo Picasso), which had a view towards a cathedral tower and garden. Late arrival in Santiago by train was no problem, as the staff welcomed us at that time. The hotel's situation,... More

Hotel As Artes is perfectly located for a visit to Santiago de Compostela being situated right next to the cathedral and easily accessible right off a pedestrian street (auto access allowed for visitors to unload and load). With it's location it affords views of the cathdral towers from several of the rooms. It is a charming small hotel, with 7... More

The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the historic quarter and cathedral area. We stayed in a Superior room (Room 102 "Dante Alighieri") for 2 nights. The room had a wonderful old stone wall and was cosy with nice touches such as a bottle of water, biscuits and chocolates on the table, and fresh, white fluffy towels in the bathroom.... More

After 25 days hard exercise this was the perfect place for us to round off our camino. The location is very central, the hotel is immaculate and the staff are superb. Nothing is a trouble to them and they speak perfect english. An added bonus is that you can hear the excellent music being played outside the Cathedral which just... More

Okay, it's not the big hotel experience but it is comfortable, very close to the cathedral, and very pleasant service. Even provided dressing gowns. Our room did give out onto an alleyway which suffered from noisy students at night so poor sleep quality.

This small pension is ideally located one short block from the cathedral. If you are standing in the large plaza in front of the cathedral, take the street leading to the left. The hotel is one block at the taxi stand on the right. Ambience: The hotel has the ambience of a rooming house from the turn of the century.... More

After I completed the Camino de Santiago I stayed at this wonderful hotel! I cannot say enough about the staff, they were stellar! They gave excellent reccommendations for places to eat, drink, and shop. I had breakfast at the hotel one morning and while it was alittle pricey it was delicious and had variety! The rooms were spotless and the... More

Some reviewers have queried a variety of aspects of this hotel. Frankly it is as it says on the tin....small and bespoke and ideal for the cathedral. Indeed if you really drag your feet it may take you almost 4 mins to get to the main square. The room we had was a 'superior' and although small-ish, it was clean... More

We got the small room and it was very small, even for European standards, maybe good for one person or two little people. Other than that, the place is really charming, like an old house right next to the cathedral (our window had views of the top) and very convenient to all the monuments in the historic part of town.... Stayed one night in this hotel at the end of a week in rural Galicia. It was a very pleasant end to a wonderful holiday. The hotel decor is very warm and cosy, the location perfect for everything that Santiago has to offer (and thats a lot), the staff very friendly and best of all, the beds very comfortable. Highly...
