We could not have been more impressed, or more pleasantly surprised. This accommodation was the best value for money and please remember it is in the old town, so it has old town charm. Beautifully renovated, immaculately clean, very comfortable beds and pillows, white, crisp, clean sheets, gorgeous and traditional tiled floors, stunning original wooden doors and window screens, and spotless bathrooms (so what if you have to share, just lock the door) Wifi and TV excellent, large sink and big mirror in the room and 24 hour friendly and helpful desk service. We found it confusing to locate once we were on the first floor, but once we tried the buzzer we were immediately let in. The old world charm of the lobby, stunning tile work and front door blew us away. You could not get a better location, so don’t be put off by the whinging, negative reviews or star rating. Live a little people! 5***** Thank you to the staff!

What a horrible hotel. As you're walking in it looks nice, then you get to the smelly, unclean prison cell rooms. Unbearably uncomfortable, with rude grumpy staff. Shared bathrooms are vile too. Avoid.

I could not ask for a better rotating staff than the guys that switched off to keep Hostal Lausanne open and available for 24 hours each day. Lausanne is just a block away from the tourist-charged Ramblas, as well as the lively Plaza Catalunya. The rooms are private, and at my end of the hall, there were two bathrooms with more-than-decent showers. Old Town, aka the Gothic Quarter, is just outside, as well as impromptu entertainment. Oh look -- there's an "Elvis"; there's some acrobats; there's a guitarist and a sax player. There are shops and any number of magnificent churchs. You won't be bored there. In fact, you won't be bored anyplace in Barcelona! And Lausanne is right in the middle of it all.

Needed a room very last minute in Barcelona during NY eve and this was one of the few places available and affordable when booking this on a website. We had a private room (not bathroom though) but it was so basic and small we called it the prison cell. In general it was at least clean, but that is all I can say, I certainly did not want to spend one minute in this place longer then necessary. What we paid for this was really a rip off but as mentioned busy period. The receptionist that checked us in was really nice and helpful but the guy working on new years eve was appalling. We rang the door for 5 minutes but nobody opened, we had to ring by phone to basically get in. And once we were in, the place reeked of pot/marihuana and the receptionist was clearly stoned. If it wasn't for the location I would never have staid here...

This one floor Hostal is well localized, just 2 minutes walking from Las Ramblas (main avenue in Barcelona). A double room with two beds was used by my mom and me. The bathrooms are shared with more rooms, but it is not a huge place so everything was as described. Two things upset me about the place: the room was cleaned but over the wardrobe was dusty and my mom noticed that her suitcase was open and someone took a look in her things. Nothing missing, but we were afraid of something. Good points, they have a hair dryer if necessary and the staff was welcome and friendly.

A cute and quirky hotel in a great location in Barcelona. Very near the Gothic Quarter, Metro,Las Ramblas and Plaça de Catalunya. My room was basic, but clean and tidy. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It's not 5 star, but a good base for sightseeing activities.

This hotel was a great find in the city of Barcelona. We were so well located---close to shopping, restaurants and bars, city sights, and the beach. We took public transport to and from the airport which was so easy. We were also able to walk a lot, which is a great way to discover the city. We felt nothing but safe throughout our stay. They have a 24 hour desk and you have to buzz in during the late hours. If you wish, they can keep your passports in a safe free of charge. While the furnishings are older, the hotel is very well kept. The room was clean. We stayed in a private room with a full bathroom. Our room was basic--two towels, two bars of soap, and a fan. What else do you really need though? All staff at the hotel were more than helpful! A special thanks to Marc Antoni---he was so kind and friendly! On a future trip to BCN, I have no doubt where I will be staying.

No air conditioner, small hot room in a very nice building in the center of B. I don't suggest for those who has any expectation about comfort. In a hot month is impossible sleeping in that small room.

Well, as I said great value for money. You cannot find a more convenient place to stay in the very heart of Barcelona. Spent there 4 nights at Easter time. And it was just as I expected according to all the comments. Unbelievably close to everything, 2 minutes to La Rambla, close to Plaza de Catalunya. You just feel like you're in the center of the universe. Hospitable staff, don't hesitate to ask them for an electric kettle to boil water. Big common area but I didn't spend there a minute, you better do it in the street. Rooms not too spacious but good enough to sleep. Too small pillows for me but you can always ask for an extra one. NO BREAKFAST included in the price but there are plenty of places to eat and have a morning coffee so why to complain? Be prepared to pay some extra tax in cash upon arrival. And one more thing, although some said it would be noisy at times - no, it wasn't. Complete silence, guests going in and out were very discreet and gentle. All in all I recommend this place for all the travellers who wish to live in the center but not to pay too much.
