As a member of the A club Accor hotel group I was upgraded to a suite. This was a nice experience. The breakfast costs 17,00 euro but is worth it any euro. On sunday you can enjoy it untill 12.00 am.

Very good night sleep, and power shower in the morning. There was a green light which was helpful early in the morning. We got a good recommendation for an Italian restaurant in short walking distance. Also a short walk from the train station (10 minutes).

I stayed at the Mercure for a week while in Essen on a business trip. The hotel is centrally located to many of the local business offices (Like Siemens). The room was large and comfortable and had windows that actually open (a rarity these days). Breakfast was quite good as well.

Rooms at the backside of the property, opposite the church, are very quiet. Streetside rooms are too noisy to keep the windows open. Non-smoking rooms were not available on check-in. WiFi is available for a fee. There is a laptop with Internet acess and a printer in the lobby, but a que forms so it's not reasonable for more than... More
