I have been to this hotel last week, still on my trip in milan. Of the six hotel stays Maritim was the bestest of all. Excellent location, room, services, staff, breakfast.... All was more than excellent.

The positive aspects are the location and the staff. However, I would really have expected more from a 4-star hotel - the room had seen better days, and how can a hotel that must be aiming at business travellers (since it is neither fun nor romantic) not offer free wi-fi?

The maritim is a hotel and shopping centre just out of the centre of koln, but easily walkable in 5 mins or so. adequate accommodation next to the altstadt, albeit across a busy road. perfect situation for the weihnachtsmarkt which is why we were in town. we had a 1 bed suite on the 6th floor, ok size with separate living area. fittings dated and yes, bathroom grouting somewhat tired as another contributor has pointed out. main gripe though was the room next... we had to wait for more than an hour for our soup and after that for half an hour for the main course. The quality was very poor. In many snack bars the food is better. I hope the hotel is better. When you stay here, don't eat at their restaurant Kölsche Stuff

It looks impressive when you arrive but unfortunately that is where it ends. The rooms are basic at best, the carpets are stained, the bathroom needs refreshing as the grout has mildew in it and if you do not stipulate a courtyard facing room, the road noise at night is awful! Fabulous hotel with an air of superiority. Rooms were spacious and well seviced. The only thing i would advise is to watch out for the lack of pricing info in the restuarants.
