We have just come back from a trip to Berlin. Having read some of the reviews on here about the hotel before we went, I was a little concerned but this turned out to be unfounded. We weren't expecting luxury, just a basic, comfortable hotel and as such we weren't disappointed The hotel is in an excellent location for the... More

The hotel is well located for general tourism. We stayed in room 102 which is on the first floor overlooking the (very quiet) main street. The room is a large double with very basic furnishings including a fridge and cooker(!) This part of the hotel is being renovated but there didn't seem to be any active work. The room and... More

The staff had lost our booking and we had to return twice to the hotel as our room was not ready even at 6pm. Eventually we were put in a tiny twin room instead of the double we had booked. We complained and were shown to a double but it was nothing like the standard of the rooms on the... More

This hotel seems to be undergoing renovation, the stairs and floors are stripped bare and some wall work was needed in our room. No renovation sounds was heard though. When we arrived the room was freezing and damp but after turning up the radiators the room was fine on the second day. Breakfast and service was good though. Ackerstrasse is... More

Shops and restaurants are nearby. U-bahn Rosenthaler Platz is about 250 meters. Museumsinsel and Alexanderplatz are within walking distance. The rooms are split between the Front House and the Garden House. I had a quiet spacious room in the Garden House with a basic, but new and sparkling clean bathroom. Breakfastbuffet is good. Overall good value for your money.

Ok, so things were difficult for those whose room was on a floor without access to the lift. On the plus side: huge rooms, calm, very simple furnishings (yes, that is a plus for some people), friendly and very helpful staff and managers, nice eating space and good breakfasts.

The staff here are very helpful (the man especially so, I never knew his name) but I would not return. No lift meant a very long haul for a heavy suitcase (even with wheels) and no phone in the room meant a message was not given to me. The breakfast was fine, though... but the restaurant was always about to... More

This was booked on a recommendation from a guide book. It was like staying in a youth hostel but at hotel prices! The rooms were very, very basic. They were all twins with thin duvets and no extra blankets. There was no proper wardrobe in the room not to mention anything as sophisticated as a phone or a minibar and... More

The hotel is on quiet Ackerstrasse just 5 minutes walk from the Rosenthaler Platz U-Bahn and 10-15 minutes walk from all the bars and restaurants of Mitte and Scheunenviertel. We were in the attic so had a good view of the omnipresent East Berlin TV Tower. The room was extremely large and clean with a kitchenette. The breakfasts in the... More
