My husband and I booked a deluxe room and truly liked the accommodations for the end of May. None of the rooms have A/C, but they will give you a fan which works out great. Our room was in the front of the hotel overlooking the downtown area and directly across from the church. Although a very beautiful and quaint... More

We stayed here for one night and can say that overall it was a pleasant experience. For exploring the Old Town, castle, etc., you couldn't ask for a better location. Of course, the building's facade is stunning. We stayed at the back of the hotel in the newer section, which was quiet. It did tend to get a bit warm,... More

We loved our stay here.Located right in old town by the college and walking distance to the castle. It has old qualities to it so dont expect the four seasons. The parking situation was much cheaper and less hastle.

Having mostly stayed in franchised commercial hotels, I found the Hotel Zum Ritter a delightful experience and departure. Historically this hotel has had it's beginning in the 14 hundreds. has been remodeld a dozen times but retains the character of it's passed. You can't compare its structure and room architecture to modern hotels. Every room is different in size and... More

Hotel is always wonderful; as is the typical German breakfast and dinner. Parking is an obtacle, but for the city of Heidelburg to be expected.

Heidelberg is our first stop on our annual buying trip , and we always stay in the Zum Ritter. After the long flight over , it's like being welcomed home by an old friend . The location is superb , hard to beat . The staff could not be more helpful . The food , while pricey for Americans ,... More

We selected Hotel Zum Ritter because we had passed by it many times in the past and the facade is really nice. However, I had my doubts about staying there based on other comments i.e. Bells from the church, rooms need renovation, etc. Well, some of it is true and it all depends on what you ask for. For example,... More

Heidelberg is a wonderful place for a one night stopover and explore for an afternoon. We stayed in a large deluxe room including breakfast and dinner. We travel with two young girls, they need space (and so do we). The pictures on the website show some airy, bright renovated rooms, we were not that lucky, we stayed in an old,... More

We finally got to Heidleberg nearing 5pm. We left our bags at the hotel the Sum Ritter St. Georg and went to return the rental car. Heidleberg is not car friendly, it is a great walking city. We had dinner in an out door café. The hotel restaurant was ridiculously priced. The hotel was a great old building, but the... More

Heidelberg’s old town bridge is a defining image in the old university town - and standing just opposite the iconic bridge, at 178 Hauptstrasse – on the official, old city walking tour - stands the elegant, gabled façade of the Zum Ritter St. Georg. Once seen, never forgotten. (Although situated in a pedestrian precinct the hotel provides parking for patrons... More
