This hotel was booked for me by my travel agent as part of a self drive holiday across France using some 'chain' hotels and culminating with a three night stay here close to Annecy. I had not done any homework regarding where we were staying. The chain hotels met expectations but this came as a complete surprise. From the time... More

stayed overnight on a drive across the alps, really beautiful setting. We swam in the lake from the jetty of the hotel just like getting into a swimming pool. The gardens were beautiful, we had a wonderful dinner al fresco , with impeccable service. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway, the bedrooms are lovely in the converted abbey.

We stayed here for a short get-away in late October, and enjoyed every moment. A beautiful terrace for a sunset drink on the Lake Annecy, extraordinary dinner with a very competent and attentive waiter, and we stayed for one night. Part of the charm of staying in an old abbey is the historical feeling of the place. It was fun... More

We stayed here in July 2011, I've been coming to Annecy/Talloires since I was 6 (now 33) and have always wanted to stay at the Abbaye. To be honest I wasn't that impressed, the bathrooms are very dated and the rooms are tiny (lake & garden view) we had to upgrade to a suite at additional cost but still found... More

Dear guest, Thank you for your opinion. I am very sorry that you were not satisfy with your stay: yes, the rooms are rather small (20 - 27 sqm), do not forget, this used to be an abbey; we are a national monument, so we can not change the inner structure of the building even if would sometimes want to.... I have stayed at this hotel 5 times and am about to go there tomorrow for the sixth. I have had countless lovely outdoor lunches in the shade of ancient corbelled Plane trees on the terrace overlooking lac d'Annecy, enjoyed two dinners in their fine dining room and attended an extraordinary wine tasting with Charlie the resident sommelier. As far... More

Dear Christine, I had the privelige to talk to you after your sixth visit to Abbaye and you announced me that you had posted a positive review on TripAdvisor few days ago as you were a big fan of our establishment. So I was somehow prepared to read nice things about Abbaye but nevertheless I would never expect this! We... More

We stayed here mid September for a friends wedding and it was just spectacular. The Abbaye itself is a real jem in terms of history. The building is beautiful and charming. The gardens are lovely and the setting is stunning. Located right on Lake Anncey, there is a pontoon for swimming and relaxing that's just for guests. The hotel is... More

This hotel is not one of the cheapest around the lake - but one of the nicest. Very good location at the end of a blind road - no cars - and directly at the brink of the Lake. Own 'pontoon' with chairs exclusively for guests and round the clock service. Nice, cosy and historic old building in which the... More

This is the second time we have stayed at the Abbaye hotel. I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed on this visit. Firstly, although stating they had taken my deposit back in February - they actually hadn't, also, upon querying the bill, the hotel manager was most rude. Customer service is not exactly top of the agenda in... More

Dear Mr A., we were very happy to have you back this year although the booking was a little bit problematic, you are absolutely right. I have checked all the mails that were exchanged and found out that we never claimed to have taken your deposit early this year. There must have been a misunderstanding, Further I was very surprised... More

We had stayed here before for a family wedding 4 years earlier, but the hotel was just as wonderful! We travelled with our large dog, who is impeccably behaved in hotels and restaurants, maybe not outside when he exhuberantly greets other dogs! Our room had a glorious view of Lake Annecy. the room was beautifully cleaned and the food was... More

Arrived to find that superior room with lake view booked and already payed for was not available for three days. Allocated a standard room with inadequate clothes hanging cupboard and no drawers at all for clothes storage. Good view of carpark but not of lake!No wash basin in toilet One therefore had to pass through bedroom to newly fitted bathroom... More

Dear Mr and Mrs C-P, Once again thank you for having chosen Abbaye for your stay and thank you for sharing your opinion with other travellers although it is not very flattering for us. The critics are just as important as the positive feed back, as we can improve and correct the things we've done not well enough. Nevertheless I... More
