There was a party of 24 of us so on reading the bad reviews we were immediately concerned. As you can appreciate that’s a lot of money, there was even a debate of bailing out and forgoing the deposit. A mail was sent to the management prior to full payment who assured us that all concerns would be addressed and... More

Took a party of 24 to Chamonix last week and stayed at the Chalet Cairn. Had seen several very bad postings on this site so had contacted the tour operator Alpine elements for reassurance. Spoke with the MD James directly who gave us his personal assurance all would be well and he was true to his word. The Chalet is... More

Okay so its not a five star hotel, but we didn't pay for or expect 5star. I've stayed in a lot of alpine accomodation in this price range and the Cairn was par for the course. What you get is no frills, clean accommodation, great staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Location was OK close to the Flegre lift and on... More

What a great place to stay. We arrived to a great welcome from the great hard working staff from alpine elements. They preceeded to explain all the necessary details about what time breakfast and evening meals were and the time of the welcome meeting. At the welcome meeting we were able to purchase our ski passes and ask any questions... More

Really looking forward to our idyllic chalet holiday experience, but what a dissapointment. "The Hostel "was shabby all the furniture was the cheapest and oldest stuff none of it matched, the edges of the tables were hanging off. The beds were like low childrens beds, not even full size. Carpets were stained a nd there were exposed electric cables in the... More

I stayed in hotel le cairn for a week when I went skiing. I beleieve that I experienced the best time and the best treatment that I can remeber. The staff were well trained and happy to help with any query or problem that I wished to find out about. The Head chef at the time Paul Sykes is one... More

Alpine Elements should be ashamed to pretend this accommodation is anything other than a basic hostel. we have been on school ski trips and this was about the same. paying the price we did for this was a rip off. if you look in the brochure you see nice tablecloths, cutlery, glasses etc. we had to ask for tablecloths to... I have to say that the description of Le Cairn is as far from the brochure description as possible. Not only is it a health hazard to stay there (broken glass, dirt, food, electircal cables hanging out, shutters falling off with decapitation potential), but it is a disappointing waste. Alpine Elements should be stopped firmly in their tracks for operating... More

The chalet Cairn has been and continues to be run in a professional manner with an experienced manager and qualified chef. On top of this regular, checks from senior management and maintenance officers ensure that the building is kept clean and in a good state of repair. 75% of our customers this year have rated the food and the cleanliness... Having booked a New Years holiday through Alpine Elements we were extremely disappointed with the holiday we experienced. The Chalet Hotel is in need of redecoration and TLC. The staff were perfectly friendly and courteous but lacked experience and were laid-back, resulting in late dinners, dirty floors, poor standard of food(that's being polite). The resort itself is good, skiing great,... More

My wife and I stayed at the Cairn in Chamonix and must admit it was a truely memorable place to spend our summer holiday. We are both seasoned travellers and found the hospitality and organisation of our tour company, Crystal Active, second to none. Each day we were able to take part in a new activity which made the holiday... More
